I have been fooling around with Adobe's Flash Media Server over the past few days in an attempt to implement a simple sort of streaming service. The goal is for someone to cast a 'video lecture' - Two streams, one from a webcam showing them near a whiteboard or w/e - the other a capture of their desktop where they have a powerpoint open. While Adobe' technology stack is pretty good, It has its limits. I originally wanted to come up with a sort of Linux live cd, where the caster would get all that he needed to cast immediately set-up for them.... and thats when I hit problems. 'Adobe Flash Media Encoder' that handles the audio+webcam stream is only available under windows - wine fails to launch the application, and I don't feel like virtualing windows in a live cd would be a good way to allocate resources Attempts to create a hackish linux version of the app with different combinations of ffmpeg/mencode/mplayer failed because of needing to cast the streams to the FMS using rmtp.
Anyways - rant aside - looking at TL.net attack, I realize now that there are probably other technology stacks for me to explore. It seems that setup (+ camera) would give me what I want - so does anyone have some insite as to what I should research?
Also, any technology stacks/programs that you guys have used or heard of are worth posting
