I am so tired of living here, in this city. This state. I swear this state must have the most foreign names for places, towns etc. Cairo, Paris, Athens. For Christ sakes, there is a road in Memphis called Canada, fucking Canada.
Memphis is the worst...
The city of shit holes, the capital if you will, Memphis, TN. My god if you plan on moving here, don't. This city is ruined. Bankrupty, corrupt politics, racists, and over all crime. Memphis is one of the most violent cities in the counrty. In 2002 alone, the Overall Memphis Crime Index swelled above sixty five thousand five hundred. There are 365 days in a year, you do the math. There are taxes for everything here, down to tires and every mile a trucker drives in this state. This state is run by a bunch of impbred backwood motherfucking assholes. This city is debt by the MILLIONS, we have to close and merge schools and fire cops to save money and raise property taxes in areas that need to save money the most. Also our mayor is a racist biggot.
But Memphis is a place of history, no. The rivers defenses that were part of the Civil war are in terrible shape just recently someone vandalized a historical landmark. This has happened several years now. Also a racial question has come into the light; a park named after the confederate general, Nathan Bedford Forest, is need of a new name apparently; because of it's racist history which might send the wrong message. The statue, ironically enough, has been vandalized several times. Graceland, no. Trust me its not the same, not by a longshot.
I am so sick of this place. This run down shit hole of a motherfucking city/state. As soon as possible I am leaving this city and state for good. Because I never want to live in this area ever again, and I'll be damned if I am going to raise a family here. Do not come here. Plan ahead like I am and move to somewhere safe, peaceful and fascinating. Like Portugal.
Don't believe me: Look for yourself

Not everyone from the backwoods is crazy. That is just another form of racism!
Confederates were not all racist, some were defending their right to secede from so much government control, others were afraid of their homes being pillaged by racists against racists, a few were fighting for slavery, but not as many as you would think. Lincoln is part of the cause for thousands upon thousands of deaths. He could have negotiated, but he did extremely poorly in doing that. I'm disatisfied with America in general. And you don't have it that bad if you have cable... (Fast Internet) I would gladly trade locations if my parents would let me.

Erm, the civil war was never really about slavery/racism in the first place anyways... the slavery issue was really just post-war justification. ^_^

It had an enormous indirect effect on it though. Not to turn this into a history thread, but if it were entirely about state's freedom, it would've happened when Andrew Jackson was president. The vast majority of southerners were racist though, but so were the vast majority of northerners.
From what I've heard, TN is relatively nice.

Racism wasn't portrayed very much by the main famous southern Generals. I don't believe there were as many racists as anyone claims. In fact, I remember reading that some of them were anti-slavery, and wanted states rights. Of which, one can label Abe Lincoln an imperialist. And as far as slaves, most slaves worked at large plantations owned by rich people. Some slaves were well treated actually, not all. Slavery in itself would be fine if 1. They paid of a debt they owed. 2 They were better off being an indentured servant, working for a certain amount of years to get something accomplished they would not get paid for/enough otherwise. The real problem was plantations, and the people who sold, bought, and betrayed fellow African's for money.
