EPTbefore I start, it is essential to point out that, in order get a relationship to start, visual aesthetic is very important, but looks don't last, we all eventually get old. We can't select someone to build a family only based on looks, which means we also need to look for other aspect that are important to maintain a relationship.
Here is my theory: a good and functional relationship requires the willingness of both people to work together by taking and sharing responsibilities. If your partner is willing to take responsibilities to make it work, then they are high quality, and worthy of your pursuit.
So what are some of these responsibilities? I had been thinking about them and trying to add to them, here is where you guys could help out by adding more in this blog, so TLer who visit here will be able to know what they are looking other than good looks.
There are 2 types of responsibilities, 1st type is responsibilities that can be shared by both individuals. and the 2nd type of responsibilities can not be share, and only each person is responsibly for their own.
Some example of the "can be shared responsibilities" in a relationship are
respect
protect the family
provide for the family
procreate
Some examples of the "individual responsibilities" in a relationship are
personal heath / beauty
you can't be responsible for your partner's health if he/she doesn't want to take the covid
vaccine/workout/see the doctor
fidelity to your partner in the relationship
you can't lock your partner in the house to preserve fidelity,
that means each person in the relationship has to be responsible for their own fidelity
access to sex
can't force yourself to have sex with the other person, that means each partner has to be
responsible for rather or not to allow sex
gender role model for the child
Children learn by watching adults' actions, that means it is very important to demonstrate
socially acceptable behaviors at all times around them, so that they will grow up knowing
how they should behave, and when the children select their partners down the line, they
know what they are looking for.
Choice of pregnancy (only female)
If anyone of the above is missing from your partner, you need to talk to them about it.
