I've been listening to all kind of metal music since I were 8 years old. I don't really like death metal, but i listen to proggresive, metal core, black metal, power metal, heavy metal and all kind of stuff. I also listen to Jpop(seems like kind of freaky music mix to you) but I really like it. Now, let's list up my favourite bands.
1.Sonata Arctica(I love you guys! Awsome band and hoping to see you soon in Sweden. You rock, Tony!)
2.Hammerfall(nothing can beat this... except for Sonata Arctica. But that's just a exception! This band rock to, pwnsome power metal. Keep up the good work!)
3.SilentEye(korean melodic heavy/power metal. I love this band.... I listen to them like 1000 times and never get tired!)
4.Narnia(What's up with this band? I tell you what, melodic heavy metal rules!)
5.Thunderstone(I have a new kind of passion to melodic speed metal... fast, furios, melodic and... AWSOME!)
6.Slipknot(A band of 9 members? 9!? Incredible! And you still sound like a regular band! Creative and aggresive!)
7.Zonata(old style power metal. sounds like a mix of iron maiden and sonata arctica together, not a bad combination!)
8.Soilwork(It's a new style for me, i mean, trash metal, I usually never listen to that kind of music. but this really is beautiful!)
9.Dir en grey(not really what you call metal, but meh, good enough. kind of japanese rock, but they are still awsome.)
10.Six feet under(what can you say? pwnsome music.)

iirc that blizzard art guy samwise makes alot of coverart and stuff for hammerfall too.
You should check out Finntroll and Sportlov too since you are swedish.

sonata arctica and hammerfall are the only ones i like out of that list, although there is so many styles of metal, but i find most of them are garbage

Only decent one there is sonata if you ask me.
Why don't you try some in flames / blind guardian or older bands like judas priest / iron maiden, I prefer listening to music that still sounds somewhat like music.

Power metal is annoyyinngggg. Oh well... SFU is alright I guess.

Sonata Artica and Hammerfall both have the most boring, bland, stereotypical heavy metal singers, couple that with nothing I find truly innovative and I just don't like them.

You metal taste seems to coincide with the fact that you like JPop...
Anyway, for myself, who began to really listen to metal (not Nu Metal, metalcore etc) a few years ago, here's a short list of favourite bands:
Dark Tranquility, Dream Theater, Iron Maiden, Kamelot, Nile, Children of Bodom (somtimes)
Oh, and Slipknot is not metal, its Metalcore (or Mallcore >_>). Just because it is loud, doesn't mean its metal.

All I can say that some of these bands you guys listen to is bull shit. Ad, I like In Flames, but they're not exactley my type of band. Never heard of the bands u listed up there, Drowsy but I bet they are good. Oh, and I'm tired of listening to all of the old bands. I only listen to new metal(except for hammerfall and sonata arctica, they're old bands). And Slipknot is Nu Metal. It's not metal core. Dir en grey is metal core.

Damn I dislike all those bands except for a couple of songs by Sonata Arctica and Hammerfall.
But where is Stratovarius? Sonata are very influenced by them.
