She is incredibly tough. She works as a public defender and routinely deals with rapists, murderers, and child pornographers who have often done pretty horrific things and who are often guilty too; that fact alone blows me away because the emotional capacity to compartmentalize those things and do her job excellently nonetheless is staggering. Despite such a heavy job, she is incredibly adorable and an absolute joy to talk to, and we laugh almost constantly when we talk. Her sense of humor is awkward and ridiculous and incredible, and in fact, on our first date, she had no problem ranting about condoms on her front porch at 9pm LOL.
She's incredibly active and loves to run and hike and do outdoorsy stuff, but she's also content to just sit on the couch and eat queso and watch Hamilton with me or hang out on the porch with her dog and a beer. She's musically talented, she's incredibly well read, and shares almost all of the same beliefs with me (religion is iffy, #defundthepolic, communism ftw). She grills out literally every day.
Did I mention she was adorable? She's SUPER TINY at only 5'1", but that just makes me even more impressed that she can stand toe to toe with middle-aged attorneys, judges, cops, and clients without fear. She is so freaking cute and badass!!
She's not "perfect". She has several medical conditions including Type 1 Diabetes and a nuked thyroid, and she balances her emotional problems between three therapists and anti-axienty/antidepressant meds. Life doesn't come easily for her. But to me, that just makes her more incredible because despite all that she still shows up to work every day and is still an absolute joy to talk to. I admire her so much for that.
She sent me flowers this week, and I cried a lot. She's remarkably supportive and kind and understanding and caring whenever I bring up my own problems, and I just don't think I could have gotten any luckier to find her at this stage of my life at this particular time. It feels so surreal.
I love this girl so much. swoons
