So last week began my quest for 100 Twitch followers and man I can tell you, it's a grind! I actually found the most organic success by queuing up duos in PUBG's and letting my partner know that I was currently streaming. Not only did I pick up a few new followers, they seem to be the ones who consistently have been coming back to view the stream.
I'm fully committed to building my stream organically, however I do like to engage with viewers, and you can't engage with anyone if you're the only one watching...so I decided to run a promotion as a way to stimpack my growth. I'm a big fan of Logitech peripherals (Headset, keyboard, mouse) so I figured why not give away a Logitech G502 mouse to a lucky follower. I created the promotion via Gleam.io which makes it all really easy for people to enter and keeps everything kosher.
Thus for the promotion has been working. As of the time of this blog post, I've picked up 143 new followers which has more than helped me accomplish my 100 follower goal. I've actually upped my goal to 500 now and have stated in the T&C's that I'll be pulling the name for the winner when I hit 500 new followers or 8/31/17, whichever comes first. I figure a 1 in 500 chance is still very decent odds for a giveaway.
I'm not going to actually give out the link to the promotion, as the point of this blog is to share my experiences building an audience vs. using TL as a source of followers, however if anyone would like to participate in the promotion I'm sure they'll be able to figure out how to do so.
So far I've done the following:
1) Started this blog as well as one on my personal website to document my journey
2) Streamed a minimum of 2 hours per day (I know that's really not enough, but it's a start)
3) Joined the lvlup dojo to pick up some tips from seasoned pro-streamers
4) Running the G502 Mouse promotion
5) Joined a few Twitch streamer communities on FB and introduced myself as a new streamer
