result from the stream, well, the live stream covered the 1st 75% before I had to go eat.
2 hour stream is uploaded to YT
Edit: Gonna do a test stream session (and complete maybe 80% of a drawing sometimes tonight, I'm thinking starting around 6pm Eastern time today, the 7th). I'm not really expecting many viewers, but I might post a notice to facebook or a quick 1min post to YT, or maybe 2 or 3 TLer who sees this will show up lol and that's enough to test things out. cheers.
I may consider live stream some of my drawings so people can see in real time exactly what I'm doing and benefit those who wants to learn. I been contacted by twitch many times and invited to be a partner. Right now they try to get my trademark username ThePortraitArt, but for now I set up an account as ThePortraitArt1 and basically knows jack about twitch, the various mode it has, the various account types, which is best broadcast software for me to use (i don't need to broadcast my monitor, only my webcam etc), different ways you can use twitch to generate a bit of income and all that.
Is there a kind soul who is a twitch expert who can help me with understanding some of this stuff. Ideally someone who has the time and can chat / talk on Skype? I'm sure if i spend the time i can learn all the ins and outs. But with an experienced helper it can speed up the process a lot and I won't forget it and of course if you have questions relating to art or youtube we can chat about that too.

That's what I wanted to say... Gah I think I missed it...
I still remember those hard fought days man, those days were we fought against that evil teacher on that Youtube contest.
haha that was crazy , i'm actually friendly with that creator, i just think some of her followers took their own action. But either way, it was a pretty amazing you-had-to-be-there to feel it kind of thing.
Also I did a test stream with some people tonight, some are from TL, just want to give shout out and thanks! There are still things about twitch i don't know or set up wrong. But at least a lot of things are tested. I might even post that video (it's over 2hours! and is over all paced horrible, music volume is very bad and loud at time, but at least it's real time and it ended at about 80% of drawing)
I just relived those days of powerful and elegant TL cooperation and coordination by reading some of my and other users' posts in the Liquid`HerO Illusion Art thread. Such an amazing experience for me once again. Thank you all for that. And thank you Nerios for reminding about it in such a nice way.
And best of luck with your streaming endeavour, Glider, as I am no twitch expert. My GF thinks what you do is amazing and showed interest in watching your stream. Looking forward to be watching you.
How difficult is it to keep coming up with blood/salt type ideas? I really feel like if your stream has those whenever you're online it will be much easier to spread through word of mouth than the straight up drawings.
Also music is very important. I could easily see myself tuning into your stream with chill background music and just leave it on for relaxing. Bob Ross style.

good points, this was a test session to know what settings, volume etc I should use and whether my computer can handle it and all that. Have some relaxing music is definitely a plan if it works out, i just don't know how strict twitch is about copyright yet. I'll find out. I have tons of music I have license for anyway.
As for weird ideas, i mean it is difficult to come up with new ones constantly. It's definitely easier to get an audience with crazy stuff but it's like.. what am I gonna come up with constantly. Maybe a mix of what I already have done.

For me the one's I enjoy the most are usually the different ones. Whether it was that cup of water with the ice cubes and straw, salt, blood, chocolate... Ball point pen, etc. For myself, an ideal split would be 50/50 between your usual beautiful drawings and the crazy stuff, I figure that must be tough for you to do though.
Anyway, I've been doing some streaming on twitch, but very small time stuff. I think OBS is an absolutely amazing software, super recommended. I'm not a partner or anything, but depending on your CPU, an i5 that's 5 years or newer (they haven't changed much recently) can stream in 720p30fps, and a modern i7 can do 1080p30fps... You might be able to do even higher since you don't have any games playing, but streaming at 1080p60 isn't really necessary, just uses a massive amount of bandwidth.
It's easy to connect your webcam to the stream and whatnot, and there's tons of plugins for the software that would let you do things like display twitch chat on stream, or display what song you're playing on Spotify/iTunes, etc. Probably since you'd like to make some money, set up one of those donation alerts on stream, have a donate button in your description so people can leave a comment if they donate. I'm not too familiar with how the ad revenue sharing works on twitch, but as far as I know, you're allowed to play ads when you'd like, so just figure out a time, like maybe you take breaks every 15 minutes, and roll an ad there, etc.
Anyway, really vague information since I'm not an expert, but I wish you the best of luck.
I watched part of the VOD and if you were to stream more I'd absolutely tune in.
I think there was a good balance between chat interaction and the drawing process, explaining your thought process along the way as you read the chat and answered questions. Most of the other streams I see on twitch either has too much chat interaction and little progress in the work or just work focused with no interaction at all.
And the stream will definitely be a good contrast to the majority of digital streams.

thank you, there were a bunch of issues that allowed me to now see and improve. system volume level, choice of drawing, pacing, speaking slower at times etc. It is the very first stream after all. Yeah but interacting with the viewers is definitely the most enjoyable part for me. was glad my computer and internet was able to handle it all, cuz i had out put setting at the highest, recording to my local also and all that.

twitch is pretty strict with licensed music. All uploads we did which contained licensed music have been muted on those parts by twitch.
