I've peaked at rank 5 so far, but right now I'm at rank 6. My current stable of heroes goes something like this:
Rehgar Li-Ming Jaina Zagara Diablo E.T.C. Johanna Thrall Muradin Raynor
I hate drafting powerhouse heroes like li-ming and rehgar all the time, but I don't know how to fight against them effectively--- and I know a lot of dirty tricks with both characters now. However, I guess I should say that the tweaking isn't that great--- I get an 80% winrate with rehgar right now, but if I'm forced to rest on Zagara it goes down to a 70% winrate. Currently(heroleague last 30 days) all these heroes give me a 55%+ winnrate, with most of them giving me a 60%+ winnrate.
In light of recent patches I've dropped KT completely. I know he is still a popular draft choice, but I think he is seriously lacking in power. The reduction of his stun and arcane shield make him a riskier playstyle, which is why I've taken to Jaina again--- my issue with her was always that she was fragile and easily dived. The reductions to KT evened the scales in my opinion, except Jaina works much better in combination with key heroes(Zagara, E.T.C., Muradin) against solo targets.
I've also been practicing a lot with Zeratul in QM recently. I saw Equinox sporting a teleport build in a pro-match, and I've found that I can do really magical things with it. The build:
Regen Master Vorpal Blade Searing Attacks Void Prison Wormhole Rending Cleave Rewind
I had been running an auto-attack/shadow assault build with him previously, but always felt like the gameplay was very boring and one-dimensional. I think this vorpal blade build is much more versatile, and with more practice I may even start incorporating it into my heroleague play. The big question hanging over my head is "when do I draft him?". I'm thinking that whenever the enemy team does trip ranged assassin is a great time to, but in the past I've suffered a lot whenever I have drafted zeratul.
Also, I have decided to start playing starcraft(lotv) to unwind from playing heroleague. My reasoning is that I'm OK with just sucking at starcraft, but when I start to lose at heroes I really get down about myself. I also expect there to be some crossover skill to be gained, since the games use related but dissimilar skills. I do wish both put the minimap in the same screen location, though, so my eyes were more accustomed to going to the same place on the screen.
Speaking of which--- what's the deal blizzard? Heroes minimap is bot right, starcraft it's bot left, and in diablo 3 it's top right. It's like your company has a sick sense of humor--- can't wait to see if overwatch has one in the top left. -_-
Anyway, as far as starcraft goes--- at one point I was in gold league in heart of the swarm. Currently I am playing some ai games(3-4 so far) to get a feel for maps and new units in lotv, but I expect to be around silver since I haven't played starcraft in 2 years or so.

follow through > searing attacks in non-AA builds, I think Vorpal Blade is overrated on NA and Master Warp-blade should still be taken vs characters with no escape (Falstad, Liming, BW, etc.)
Zeratul is amazing vs comps with only 1 frontliner, but he's a pretty good melee assassin overall. Only time I wouldn't draft him is vs double warrior. You can probably still make it work, but it's harder. Oh and he's also good vs solo support Tyrande.
I doubt SC2 skill transfers to HotS or the other way around, since I was diamond and had to start my MOBA journey at around 1,4k mmr . But GL, SC2 can be a ton fun and definitely much easier to keep on improving and way more rewarding than any team game.

Is it possible to filter hotslogs to a specific region on a character's skill selection screen? I'm trying to see if vorpal blade is actually picked more in NA than EU, but can't find controls to select that. It certainly seems to not be picked very much overall, though-- just 7.1% of the time.
I'll consider weaving in followthrough over searing attacks. I had been thinking similar things myself, but wasn't sure if searing attacks didn't have some other usefulessness I hadn't considered--- like waveclear/objective focusing without using up ability cooldowns, or just raw burst. Realistically I'm just not in combat that long, and I thought the extra burst from searing would be more useful than a blank 40% increase all-the-time.

The skills actually do transfer over. The mini map awareness especially. I'm still in silver but I can feel myself improving

That and seeing the "shades"
When you see DT's in stacraft you'll have no trouble spotting that annoying Nova or that sneaky Zera ;-)
I was actually in Master League at one point mid HotS and when i switched to Heroes (for Unwinding reasons of course ^-^) i didn't know what to do with my apm.

I had a vaguely similar experience going back to D3 the other day. I found myself trying to juke monsters, and it took like half an hour to remember that I don't have to ALWAYS be moving to avoid shots.
