So now I'm getting back in the saddle. A lot has happened since I last posted on this. Moving house numerous times, changing job, and weirdly getting even more into sc2 than before. I've finally made plat, and I'm looking into starting a small business to...run .....esports tournaments/events/stuff like that.
Yeh, the bug still has me.
Recently, I found out that my place of work is going to undergo "restructuring". Given that the last 3 times this has happened, a bunch of people lost their jobs, I'm none too hopeful for round 4. That said, if it comes with a redundancy payout, I can live with that.
So my thoughts have been turning more to E-sports and the organisation that I've been working with since the start of my blog. I've managed to get as far in SCVRrush as being in charge of the European franchise, and I still love it.
Yes, I still rage at the game, and I still have the occasional bruised knuckle from when I lose to....mostly my own mistakes, but that's Starcraft for you.
I've started looking into crowd funding, and am working with a friend to put together a business plan that I can take to potential sponsors. I'm looking into organising articles for the site, arranging interviews with pro players/casters, doing a small talk show once a week, a regular replay analysis, "frag videos"..... The more I think about it, the more I want to do.
And it amuses me that the next step in the plan could easily be "get made redundant". After all, it's not unheard of for people to start all sorts of interesting careers when things go wrong.
I realise this could all be pipe dream territory, but I figure....what the hell. Life is short (and a good zerg). Why not go for it, if the chance is there. it's going to be a lot of work, but given that I tend to spend most of the time from when I get home to when I go to bed, working on projects, I figure that won't be a problem.
P.S. I'm also going to try and write more than I have. That's not gonna be hard. I haven't written an entry in literal years. Let's see if I can keep it going....
P.P.S They say you have to give up sleep to make stuff like this work. I wish that wasn't true. Sleep is so good. That said, I get up in 7 hours, so I should really go...
