Not much to say. Shitty year and the next year is probably going to be a whole lot shittier with the way things are going. But at least I had something to eat!!!!!!!! yay for having food.

Haven't done VA in a long time, much less consistently, and it shows. Plus Audition 1.5 is starting to show its age and limitations. A pity there doesn't seem to be a worthy sound editor successor to it yet. Everything is either bloated garbage or requires some hardware bullshit to run. Pro Tools would ram the CPU idle process and cripple the computer when not even running, and complain my sound card wasn't compatible. Garbage. Newer audition versions are adobe trademark bloatware. Audacity needs VST to be any useful and isn't as powerful. Vegas seems like it could take over given the UI is a lot better than Acid, but again I'll need to find some useful VST junk for it.

very cool stuff!
I did a really simple VA for a commercial in the fall. Nothing on the level of the stuff you're doing there - just a few lines. Was a cool experience (pretty much got the gig because of my American accent in Finland).

Haven't had any experience with sound editing but that's all stuff you do and then send in the product to be finalized? My one experience was just walking into a studio, reading lines until we got the tempo/influctions right and letting them do any editing and placing.

How did you get into doing this?

I started doing analog recordings on cassette tape to pass my time in my youth. When I was introduced to computers via Brood War in 1998 and began modding in 1999 I immediately took to digitalizing my voice and replacing the sounds in the game. All of my mods since then featured custom audio.

The editing here is mostly minor cleanup (build a profile of the background noise and then remove it from the entire thing at max strength) and add some other effects like for Kolad. None of these are final though, they're all just practice scrap.
