Vengeance Domain
There will always be those who have been wronged, robbed, or wounded. So much is lost to greed, treachery, and murder. In a corrupt world, sworn alliances crumble and trust shatters. Some can indulge in the complacency of forgiveness and compassion. For others, this is mere cowardice, a refusal to stand against the tyranny of injustice. When confronted with pain and devastation, the weak settle for acceptance. The strong choose Vengeance.
None who first approach the altar of Vengeance do so without a schism in their hearts. In one heart lies a vision of balance, a trust in the law, and a desire for a world free of pain. The other heart holds an indelible hatred, a soul unafraid of the burden of judgement, and a willingness to defeat the wicked at any cost. These cleft hearts are purged of their conflict by the Catechisms of Retribution. For the Guiltstalkers, no law is higher than “eye for an eye” and no action is unjustified in pursuing those who perpetrate wanton violence. The Blade of the Martyr stands at the apex of the ideology of Revenge, for once evil is removed from the whole of the world, the final evil to purge is themselves. Yet the world continues to defy goodness, so the Clerics of Vengeance are ever initiated, anointed, and put forth to do what must be done.
In Iris, Vengeance is exalted by Meddromon the Abandoned, Jahan Pharhrosep, and the Dread Lady of Ivanastra, among others. The principal god of Vengeance is Ultius, and it is he who spreads the power of Revenge through mortals and deities alike.

1) Mark of Vengeance — When you choose this domain, you are able to mark creatures as targets for Vengeance. As a Bonus Action, you may indicate a creature upon which you shall have your revenge. Only one creature can be marked in this way at a time (recasting the Mark of Vengeance removes it from the previous target). Marked targets take +1d8 damage from your attacks and spells with the same damage type as the attack or spell. This feature may be used a number of times equal to your WIS modifier every Long Rest.
2) Channel Divinity: Reveal the Forsworn — By calling out to your god, you learn the location of the target of your revenge. After spending 10 minutes in prayer, a target with the Mark of Vengeance is revealed to you through the power of your deity. When the target is revealed, you are aware of the general direction of the marked target at any range. When you are within 120 ft. of the target, you know its specific location. You may only use this feature on a creature that you intend to kill when you find it. If you remove your mark or fail to kill the creature when you find it after this feature is used, you may no longer use Mark of Vengeance until you are absolved of your failure through penitence and prayer (this process completes at the DM’s discretion).
6) Channel Divinity: Forced Repentance — You may force a target marked for Vengeance to regret their deeds and repent, even while in the midst of battle. A marked target on whom this skill is used will have Disadvantage on attack rolls made against you. The creature will also take 1d6 Psychic damage at the start of each of its turns for the duration of the effect. The effect lasts for 1 minute or until the creature spends an Action in sincere penance for its deeds. Sincere penance requires a successful CHA save against your Cleric Spell Save DC.
8) Karmic Backlash — Your god’s grace and protection forces your marks to feel the pain that they cause. Once per turn, a creature that is Marked for Vengeance and hits you with an attack will take 1d8 Psychic damage. At 14th level, this damage increases to 2d8.
17) Swift Retribution — You are bequeathed the authority to wield Retribution’s true might in battle, rending asunder those who would attempt to escape from their sins unscathed. Your attack rolls have Advantage when you attack a target Marked for Vengeance. When attacking such a marked target, you critically strike on rolls of 18, 19, and 20.
