So what makes a great sci fi villain? Who are your top 3?
In this recent podcast a mate and I discuss who our fave sci fi villains are and why.
e12-greatest-sci-fi-villains
I swear there are not enough great sci fi villains...
I want more!!!
Anywho my list was:
Agent Kruger: Elysium. Man Sharlto is soooooo good and as Kruger he is ferocious!!! Check out that guy's website, u got an idea for an amazing sci fi film? Send it to his team and they will check it out and possibly use it!!!
Sharlto
Jubal Early: Firefly: Objects in space. A deeply disturbing villain, but one with a existential philosophical nature. Richard Brooks performance is spot on!
Objects in Space
and
The Deacon: Dennis Hopper: (May he rest in pepperoni.) Waterworld hahahah...Dennis soooooo goood soooo bad sooooo gooood!!!
Waterworld
As always feedback is appreciated. List up yours!!! I really hope someone can list one I do not know!!!
Peace and may LotV be actually in a state worth playing soon

One Villain I really liked was Sovereign from Mass Effect 1. He was the first to give the reapers a "face", and he really made the reapers scary.
I just wish we could have seen more of him.
SPOILER ALERT Don't watch if you haven't played Mass Effect yet and plan to do so. + Show Spoiler +

1. James Cameron (Prometheus) 2. Agent Smith (The Matrix) 3. Darth Vader (Empire Strikes Back) 4. Arnie (The Terminator) 5. Arnie (Predator) 6. Immortan Joe (Mad Max: Fury Road) 7. Gallo (Pandorum) 8. Loki (Avengers) 9. Quentin (Cube) 10. Colonel Quaritch (Avatar)

The best is obviously Robert Patrick as T-1000 2. Darth Vader 3. Khan 4. HAL 9000 5. Baron Harkonnen 6. Q 7. The Emperor

Movies?
Here's some good ones:
Darth Vader Alex (a clockwork orange) (does this count as a villain?) T-800 (arnold) Agent Smith Roy Batty (blade runner) The Predator H. R. Giger's Alien T-1000 (robert patrick) Biff (back to the future) Hal (space odyssey) The Thing
Most of my favorite sci fi movies tend to have stronger protagonists than villains. The real "villain" in sci fi tends to be some kind of evil system or force rather than a single person. The villains/enemies/antagonists are just tragic victims of the system.

I loved Scorpius from Farspcape. Truly terrifying, with an interesting back story. It's a shame he got watered down towards the end but his role during the darker parts was brilliant.

Yeah we love Robert Patrick too...highly underrated actor. And his portrayal of the T1000 in T2 is timeless. I always felt like Hedonist bot in Futurama was sorta based on Baron Harkonnen...hehee^^

apart from the obvious ones Walter Simons from Deus Ex (his voice and dialogue!!)

Since we are including Space Opera, I would include Darth Revan. Darth Revan is so out of the blue, and yet so subtle at the same time. Of course Revan is not always a villain, and his flexibility is what gives Revan so much interest.

A lot of these are more "antagonists" than pure villains, and for those in video games it may depend on the choices you make if they're even that. Still, they exhibit some villainous qualities so I have listed them here, in no particular order.
Andrew Ryan (Bioshock) Mr. House (Fallout: New Vegas) Royce Bracket (Transistor) Achilles (Ender's Shadow series) Namulith (Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind - the manga, not the film)

Battlestar Galactica Cylon # 1 is pretty awesome as bad guys go SPOILERS: + Show Spoiler +

I would add the Sovereign from ME as mentioned earlier. Though T-1000 isn't villain per se IMO, he's just a machine on a mission :> But he's flawless! And I still think something is missing... hmm... how about SW>KOTOR?
So Darth Raven? Hmmm... :-) Or Kreia? Both of them are good characters that can be in the category of "villains" .
