As you may or may not know, I've been working on my own board game, Discord, for the last ~1.5 months since retiring. Last week we had our first print and play release. The game is available for download and play as detailed here: http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/481975-discord-print-and-play-release-v020
We pushed hard for a deadline of the beginning of April due to the announcement of LoTV Beta coming so soon. While I haven't decided yet if I'll be returning to Starcraft yet, I've started playing a bit more here and there and participating in various LoTV tournaments and showmatches. Earlier this week I placed 2nd in the Lycan weekly, losing to Bly in the finals and I'm lined up to play vs HuK in Apollo's showmatch tomorrow: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/legacy-of-the-void/482482-apollo-lotv-fight-night-friday-10th
I'm also going to play in wcs qualifiers for season 2 challenger. Despite all my recent activity in Starcraft, I do not consider this a return from retirement but instead as a way to test the waters and see how I feel about Starcraft after my break. I've gained better insight into what the limits of the mind and body through the incredible amount of work I put into playtesting and designing my own board game and I'm nearing a point where I'm willing to try Starcraft again.I have not been practicing very much and don't expect too much from the qualifiers, but am going to try anyway just to see how it goes.
For now, I'll be playing LoTV a bit, but nothing too serious. I'm taking a break from working on Discord of about 2 weeks at which point I'll re-evaluate how seriously I want to continue that project. Heroes of the Storm is probably not a game I will pursue at an incredibly competitive level. Team games don't speak to me the same way that Starcraft does, although I continue to play here and there.
Sorry for the shorter than usual blog today. I'll be back to regularly blogging every Tuesday starting next week. This week was a bit of a flub for me, but I released 3 blogs last week.

Do you still remember what it felt like to all kill IM?
I hope you'll be able to find some passion for Lotv if it fits in with your life. I'm going to take a look at your game. Best wishes.

Your game looks fun! (although id say change the art, which probably is temp anyways). Id love to see a video of the game bieng played somehow. A bit of a hassle to print it and test it since I dont have any printers
Well best of luck with the game tomorrow!

I actually had no idea he was working on a board game! I have to take a look now. Edit: I guess its not out yet

As long as this is titled "What comes next?" (where does the comma go if the quote ends with a question mark?), can I make a request?
If you're taking on game design in any capacity, it might be interesting to read you post game reviews here from a design standpoint. It would teach you some things too, since writing is a great way to learn about things.
The games could be MtG, poker, soccer, computer games, RPGs, Risk, Chess, rock paper scissors. Whatever tickles your fancy.
Just my 2 cents

It is out in that you can print out the cards etc and play.
note: sry QXC, I wasn't able to try it this weekend, people canceled, but maybe next weekend!

Hey qxc are you considering playing shoutcraft at all with Complexity?
|
I'll probably be playing LoTV matches for complexity in shoutcraft. Not sure what else in terms of Starcraft I'll be doing now...

qualifying was a nice surprise. I had only been practicing for about a week, but I knew my skill hadn't faded too badly so I thought I'd give it a try. I'm practicing consistently now and on a more rigorous schedule to defeat my next opponent and make it to premier.
