Group A consists of YoDa versus DongRaeGu, Seed versus soO, and TaeJa versus Sorry. Two GSL Champions and the player with the most GSL second finishes ever.
The first match saw DRG go up against YoDa in a TvZ that DRG was expected to win. YoDa being one of only two Prime players to take a game is round in Proleague. DRG on the other hand recently left Invasion E-Sports, giving him a good opportunity to show the Kespa teams what he's made of. The series went all five games, with each player having shots at one another. The final game came down to Mech vs SH, and with some misguided decision making, DRG had his SH chased down by a pack of banshees, giving YoDa the series.
The second match was more one sided with an overall favor towards soO in his match up versus Seed. The first two games went pretty clearly in soO's favor, with Seed being able to take a game on King Sejong Station. The series ended on Overgrowth showing Seed just not being up to par with the skill of soO.
The last series had TaeJa, Team Liquid's most decorated player go up against SKT1's third best Terran, Sorry. TaeJa drops the first map with a costly late siege, but after good engagements in the second game, was able to tie up the series. Seeing some proxy marauder shenanigans, TaeJa was able to tie it up once more, but Sorry proved to be the better TvT player advancing to Code S.
Today was a prime example on how having the more championships under your belt does not make you the better player, with all those eliminated in Code A having been beaten by a player with less Championship Titles.
