I am a little confused. You're not doing text in photoship, right? Because it can get a little funky when printing.
I definitely agree about the borders. I don't think they're bad, but distracting from the cool stuff Coag's done. More importantly, it's a drinking game, so you wanna make it crystal clear for the user. Like how online poker has the option to switch to those really bright options, it should be identifiable really easily
I'm a little confused by the inside border you mention though? on the mol'phyoz example, it's the red half on the bottom? Same thing with your mention about the text gradient. I do like the face on the card too

Text will be in InDesign not Photoshop. Ill explain about the borders with examples when Im home tonight. Its not too complicated but some pictures will help explain what I mean.

Always get so excited when I see another update! Stuff still looks great and I'm looking forward to the next phase.
Care to elaborate which mechanic you pulled to smoothe out gameplay?

Drinking game + all of that awesome art? Sign me up!
The drinking games I am used to playing are beer pong, fizzbuzz and kings, so this may be slightly too sophisticated for me. However, I also played M:TG in a long lost past, so presumably I'll manage :D

Woah, this is still happening? It started back when I was still active on TL :o
Coagulation art is monstrous! The only thing I think doesnt quite fit the theming is the title font, seems too "comic" compared to the rest of the art, but nonetheless, still damn impressive!!

Ignore the Heroes / Ults for now (look at the 4 cards on the middle / right). There are two classes of cards which sit in different decks. Basic cards are cheap (top), Legendary cards are expensive (bottom). Visually, they are distinguished by their outside border being either silver or gold.
Next, there are four types of cards, which determine how the cards are played and used. They are distinguished by the background of the text and the inner border colour.
The reason this is important is because if someone is sitting across the table, you want to visually know what kind of cards they have out, even if you can't necessarily see their stats.
Each player only has one two-sided Hero card, so the distinction between Hero and Ultimate is mostly visual to follow suit.

We have a class of cards called "Events". Whenever a player levels up, they draw an Event card. Originally, the design of these cards were supposed to be global - random events that effect all players. To this day, I still like this idea. It's a global "problem" that draws everyone away from fighting each other and makes them solve the problem together temporarily, or all face the consequences. I tried for several months and couldn't get it implemented right.
So we replaced that idea with a card you draw and put into play for free. It was still random and sometimes had a global effect, but it was simpler and more direct. The problem is that the Events are way too complex and flood the board with too many cards.
I think I'm going to cut them from the game. They are an unnecessary complexity.

Better to be simple first, you can make it complicated as you scale up with new cards and ideas

Love the art work!! Really awesome! Keep up the good work

So how long can you drink and keep playing well? Is the game too complex to play when you're really drunk?
Do you have to be drinking when you're playing, ie. it's tied to the rules?
Do you have plans to create a computer version of the game so players can play over the internet, or does it not work because of the drinking aspect?

Food for thought: Consider laminating the paper pieces. This is a drinking game.

Do you have plans to create a computer version of the game so players can play over the internet, or does it not work because of the drinking aspect? Depends if you are a functional drunk or not. Can you play video games while drunk? If so, you'll be fine. I haven't seen anyone get so drunk they can't function.
Drinking is tied to the rules, but isn't a necessity. You can play without drinking. Check out the FAQ - there are answers to a lot of your questions: http://mana.firecaster.com/faq/
No plans to create a computer version right now.

I don't drink. I might start to play this game though. I promise chill, if you guys ever sell this, I'll buy a copy and host a drinking game night that I may or may not participate in and then give you guys the feedback.
Seriously guys: stunning work. I'm so excited for you. I remember the very first blog about this. Really really cool to see it coming along so well. Gl!

My wife and her sister also don't drink and they've played a few times. I just want to be clear that there are no cards that only make you drink. Even the cards that are essentially "Opponent Drinks X" all have some other gameplay element to them. You won't miss any gameplay by not drinking.

I think kingjames has a good idea about making this more accessibile online. Instead of making a computer "game" the fastest growing market online in terms of gaming are Apps for the iPhone or Android phones.
After you nail down the board game and things are looking successful, I would consider attempting making an App version that people could play either vs other players or like how Cards Against Humanity approached it.
Great work non the less. I'll sign up for a beta test, I have board game night with about 5-10 people once a month that always involves drinking. =) I got them to get into munchkin, I'm sure I could get them into this.

Really does seem like alot of it is ripoffs of other work, like other posters have said.
Looks good though.
