This week, despite not being able to finish anything else of substance, I finally completed (the first part of) a small task I’ve wanted to do since the release of the D&D Fifth Edition Player’s Handbook. With all the myriad possibilities of 5E’s character creation, I thought I’d take it as an exercise to create one character of each class that I’d be interested in playing. For the most part, this meant that I had to find the character compelling and that it needed to offer opportunities for roleplaying. Notably, these characters are not min/max’d to their greatest potential (mostly because I’m bad at doing such things). Of course, to create an interesting character, you also need an interesting setting, and since I’m fond of tooting my own horn, I made these characters part of my own D&D world, Iris. I’ve been writing about Iris for a while now (and I’m not done yet), but I’ve only discussed the region’s history and lore so far, rather than the adventures who wander it. Today, I’m changing that.
Below are the first three characters I’ve made for a game set in Iris. These follow the vanilla rules for 5E in their stats and abilities, but their backstory and flavor is of the world of Iris. The links that I’m sharing are from Evernote, so if you find yourself able to edit them for any reason, please don’t and also let me know so I can figure out why that’s happening.
I hope you enjoy!
Ceylara Isrei (Wood Elf Barbarian) Rez Golhurk (Half-orc Bard) Jeran of Clan Helosibarion (Silver Dragonborn Cleric)
You can check out this short piece of work and many far longer pieces on the N3rd Dimension.
