I guess it needs a banner, so fuck it, I made one
Hi! This blog post is part sarcasm, part serious, but you won't know which parts are for real and which aren't, because this is the internet, and it's nigh-on impossible to tell which is which based on context alone. Hell, I can barely tell in real life sometimes whether or not someone is fucking with me. I just thought I'd let you know in advance, since most of you don't know how to recognize humor until someone points it out. So, either the humor is "too subtle" and everyone is confused and angry, or the humor is "try-hard" and too obvious for you snobs who drink fancy wine while analyzing the finest humor for the purest subtlety.
Actually, the post I linked above is kind of a good example of what I'm about to rage about, hard. Sexism is an actual problem. I mean, it's not the end of the world, where Bruce Willis has to go into space and then we find out later he's a ghost or something, but discrimination is a very ugly trait in humankind. As a matter of fact, I've even discriminated against people before, and I'm not proud of it. This one time, some guys walked into the store to buy some slim-jims, and I told them to get [the fuck] out and that I wouldn't 'serve their kind here', just because they were neo-nazis. Later in life, I learned that I shouldn't be prejudiced, because deep down inside, everyone's money is the same. I think many other people have learned this lesson as well and have learned to love people who are different than themselves, or at the very least, tolerate them.
What we haven't learned is to stop bandwagoning. And yes, 'bandwagon' is a verb now.
Definition: The act of consciously or subconsciously following a majority opinion or authority or 'expert' opinion without thinking too hard about it.
Example:
So, in blog titled "I like women as much as your next woman-liker..." PyrionFlax was all like "Women need to keep their hand off ma eSporks" and then everyone started flipping desks and ripping phone books in half out of pure rage, saying "U R A MISOGINEST" until they realized it was a fucking joke. Then we run into a Matrix-like red-pill/blue-pill decision: do we laugh at ourselves and go "Man, that was silly of me to get so mad." or do we refuse to admit we were wrong? Well, if you're like the millions of people who refuse to be wrong on the internet, you picked the latter of the two options, and decided that while you have acknowledged the blog to be satirical in nature, the initial shock was too much; it made you too damn angry.
The end result is a bunch of people going "This wuznt funny", and justify it because either they're too concerned about the issue of sexism to let it slide (ya rite) or have decided that the humor is beneath them in some other way. I've read both comments saying it was too vague to be understood as humor,

Either way, it was an entertaining post, and by the way, I would actually support someone who had a males-only hearthstone tournament, but only if the guys have to play shirtless. But I'm kidding. But not really. However, that's neither here nor there. The fact is, bandwagoning pisses me off. If you have bandwagoned, you are stupid, and your whole family is stupid, and your cat is stupid. That's how stupid you are, you dumb stupid head. Now, you have to ask yourself: "Do I jump on the bandwagon and say I agree with this post?"
Good question!
Thanks for the question, Captain Strawman, defender of logic and reason. You always ask the best stuff. Well, first of all, we as human beings can only make decisions based on past experiences where we see patterns in behavior and consequences. For example, you may have asked nicely for your mom to buy you cookies as a kid. Your mother was so happy with your good manners that she bought you the cookies. You learned that when you say the 'right thing', you get the result you want. Now, remember that time when you were little and just started randomly spouting off racial slurs and then your mom beat your ass until you couldn't stand up? You learned that if you say the 'wrong thing', you will be subjected to domestic abuse. Later, the internet was invented, and you learned you could say things like "niggeriffic" and nobody on the computer could do you any bodily harm. However, what people could do is berate you with insults. Based on your personality, you could either decide to defend your reputation by never doing offensive things, or not care, and became a troll.
So here's what I think personally, and you can tell me how fucking wrong I am like the asshole you are: If you are going to bandwagon, it is better than you do it in a positive way rather than in a negative way.
But right now, fuck that, because we're just going to discuss some pure bandwagoning, whether it's right or wrong!

life is ruff
So, I wanna talk about our good friend -Orb-, but also, about our good friend RuFF_SC2. And also, our good friends IdrA and TotalBiscuit. I want you to take note that I have
RuFF was not so fortunate.
Within hours, he was fired from his team, was banned from team league, got called a 'cunt' on twitter, and then got pages and pages of hate on Teamliquid. Could we, like, not do that shit to people? Just because he did something wrong doesn't mean he deserves people to gang up on him to tell him that he's a terrible person. I could understand if he snapped a kitten's spine over his knee and then yelled "CAN YA SMELL WHAT THE ROCK IS COOKIN'?" but no. He said something dumb while he was mad. And yeah, it was hurtful to Minigun. Minigun even said he didn't appreciate it. So what YOU, the fans could do is send something nice to Minigun, like a message that says "Hey, Minigun, keep your head up, I think you're awesome, dude! I wish you the best!" To be honest, it's an easier knee-jerk reaction to lash out at RuFF, but he's a human being, so if you believe that words can be hurtful to Minigun, then you have to believe that words can be hurtful to RuFF as well.
Now, I know that this requires you to be a rational human being, but bear with me+ Show Spoiler +. You can say "Wow, I really disagree with what RuFF said. I hate to see someone lose their sponsorship, but I understand IvD's decision here because that was really uncool what he said." but don't go "WOW, RUFF GETS WHAT HE DESERVES, WUT A FAGGET"
Cuz look,
This sort of thing is going to happen again the future, sooner or later. It's GOING to happen, maybe even tomorrow, but if it does, I would like to go on the record as saying I had no prior knowledge of the said incident, and this is purely coincidental. Maybe Destiny will be just fucking around and go "I don't know any black pro-gamers... I guess maybe if someone made a competitive game about picking cotton, they would dominate." and WHOAAAAAAA HOLD ON THERE BUDDY, THAT'S RACIST. And guess what, he'd get trashed to death with hate-mail. There are so many 'groups' to offend, too: Women, blacks, hispanics, asians, indians, native-americans, christians, atheists, muslims (you really don't want to piss these guys off), transgender, transsexuals, bisexuals, pansexuals, robosexuals, otakus, bronies, fat people, skinny people, anorexic people, drug addicts, the elderly, poor people, intellectually challenged people, the terminally ill, children, people in 3rd world countries, victims of rape, victims of disasters, the mathletes, Jewish people, Star Wars fans, people who love the 90s, and so on, and any combinations thereof. Oh, also midgets and people who are missing limbs, and people who are attached together. I guess 'white males', as well, but I'm just putting them on the list so they don't get offended. Oh, also gays and lesbians... how did I forget them?
So when it does happen, could you, like, be nicer? Think of yourself in their shoes. Imagine you said something stupid by mistake and had an angry mob awaiting you. Wouldn't you want people to have some empathy for you? Wouldn't you want forgiveness if you were truly sorry for what you had done? If the answers to all of these are "no", then go ahead, be a prick, you prick. Or just not say anything at all. Don't voice your dumbass opinion. You see like 30 pages of people going "Fuck this guy, he's a racist." and then feel the need to chime in and post your oh-so-important opinion that nobody will ever read unless the redditers come after you (then you're fucked), but instead, you could be baking me some cookies.
I know this is a lot to digest
But as Billy Mays (may he rest in peace) would say: but wait, there's more.
In the world of
If you have time:
To see what I mean. I mean like, I'm already a huge fan of Louis C.K., but he did this interview and I was like "He said what I was thinking!!!"
I mean, I was playing some Planetside 2, which is a free-to-play (seriously) fps mmorpg where you can fly planes and drive tanks and it's just really fucking fun to play, especially when you find yourself a fun team to play with. So we're playing this game, and people are actually going 'thanks for nothing, soe' (Sony Online Entertainment, the developers of the game) and complaining about how slow the updates to the game have been, and how shit is imbalanced, and I really could not believe it. We're playing this fucking amazing game, FOR FREE. You only pay if you want to not grind for guns and want to level up faster, that's it. Maybe that's why they cry so hard when they pay for all these upgrades with real money and still get pwned.
Now to invoke TotalBiscuit, which will consequently cause his wrath to come down on me. Oh well, such is life. But I'm ready for it; float like butter, sting like a beaver. Come at me braw.
So, if you haven't read this, here's a blog where TotalBiscuit discusses his team losing against Acer and Mouz (Both really good teams, so I don't know why this is such a big deal) and you can read it here: http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/461571-the-taste-of-crow
Here's a brief summary: Axiom Gaming lost hard in a team league, and so TotalBiscuit decided to apologize to the fans. And then this:

I believe the Acer Teamstory Cup format should change in future and I'd like to explain why. The all-kill/revive format favours teams with strong, streaky players over teams with deep rosters. It also makes preparation very difficult. You can prepare to snipe a star player, but can you prepare to snipe them twice? The answer is generally no, particularly with smaller team-lineups than yesteryear. No longer are you dealing with 20-strong Startales, you're dealing with 5-6 man squads, some of which don't even have 3 races. This season of ATC in particular has had huge numbers of all-kills and 3-4 kill streaks, many of course perpetrated by the usual roster of star players. The acquisition of a star player is extremely beneficial for any team, since it usually translates into high finishes at the many individual tournaments, but I do not feel that should be the case in a team match. One player should not carry a team on his back, the win should be a team effort. The match against mouz demonstrated the absurdity of the format quite well on both sides.
Ryung starts off with a solid win, Sjaak then beats Ryung and comes close to all-killing the team. Ryung is then revived, kills Sjaak and comes close to reverse all-killing the team. Sjaak is then revived beating the revived Ryung to end the match 5-4. None of the other players on either team pick up a single win.
That is ridiculous and it shows the very worst of the format. I'm not particularly into all-kill at the best of times and this is certainly an improvement from previous ATC where it was actually possible to face the same player 3 times in a series if one of the limited revives was used. I'm not using this as an excuse, we lost to Mouz fair and square and they almost lost to us fair and square, but really, regardless of how that match went down, was it a team-match or was it just Sjaak vs Ryung at that point? There is a degree of excitement to be derived from all-kill and reverse all-kill, however you can do that without the revive rule, as GSTL demonstrated for years. I believe that if ATC wishes to continue to pursue the all-kill format in future seasons, they should revert to a BO7 series with no revive in the ace match, or switch to a Proleague format, in which an ace revive makes more sense.
As it stands, Proleague format is the best way to test a team. It results in more carefully prepared matches, it rewards teams that prepare properly for their opponents, whereas in this BO9 allkill + revive, preparation is for the most part fairly worthless, it's simply too hard to predict who will come out and even if you can, preparing to snipe a star player twice is basically impossible and that's assuming you even consider sniping valid anymore. Back when the Mothership core didn't exist and queens weren't so powerful, it was perhaps possible to create a cheesy build to snipe a particular player, but these days that's pretty hard to do unless you happen to be Protoss, that have such a large variety of potential all-in/cheeses. I would like to see the other two races given that degree of freedom to but that's another story for another time.

And of course, le poll:
So, he presents this big argument against all-kill format, and argues that the league his team, Axiom, plays in, should change their format. Then makes a poll and goes "WHAT DO YOU THINK?" and of course, they're going to vote for Proleague Bo7 (individual 1v1 matches for each set of players) and of course:

Actually, TotalBiscuit brings up some good points in his blog. I personally like both formats, as they both have a lot of fun shit that comes with them. Now, if you look at the comments in the blog, you'll see some support for all-kill format, and this guy:

Me too, bro, and I also bench 250 with one arm. However, the poll is heavily skewed in favor of TotalBiscuit's proposal, so either there are two possibilities: the league picked a format that everyone hates just because fuck you that's why, or, TB made a decent argument against all-kill and then people who are fans of TB and Axiom bandwagoned.
Speaking of the Biscuit-man, this reminds me of a blog awhile back titled "I bent TotalBiscuit over and had my way with him". So some dude played TotalBiscuit and won, and then made a blog about it. If someone did that to me, I would cut them in half with a chain-saw. So yeah, TB was pissed, but that's not the point. The point is that many, many people found it oddly amusing:
but then, a wild snorlax appeared
after that, there was a mix of "Azera [OP] needs to apologize" and some jabs taken at TB. However, by the time the next page rolled around, suddenly, folks found it hilarious again. But that is the power of Snorlax, or more aptly put, a figure of authority. A person with influence can change the public discourse for bandwagoneers for the greater good.
