I think that sobriety allows for the best decisions: just look at how the Korean progamers are quasi-emotionless when they play, and there's a strong correlation with the way their mechanics are quasi-flawless.

The only thing that these emotions may strenghten is the fact that you would like to beat an opponent and that you train a lot better for that - nothing else Heh, I like your correlation to DBZ cause I do watch too much DBZ. Yeh, training hard to defeat a rival due to rising emotions makes sense for sure. Thanks for that.

Well, I think you might be right in that people can get very involved in this game and put their egos on the line, so its natural that they will BM each other. But I don't think that kind of anger actually makes things better; most people who BM others just end up getting more animated or provoke an even harsher response, which in the end makes them even more upset. So I think there are positive/constructive ways of releasing your anger/tension and then there are bad ways, and insulting the opponent in the standard way you see on ladder is a bad way. BUT there are also really awesome and fun ways to taunt your opponent; i.e. typing "the terran dominion will crush you!", or with the taunts you see in Hearthstone, which I think are perfectly okay and can enhance the game. Though it also depends on context So I think it might be natural for some people to hate their opponent, or hate how they are playing, but its not "right" or constructive in most cases. Maybe there are some people out there who feel better by being complete dicks to others, but even then what about the other person? Is it fair for him/her to be the victim of such abuse? Unless of course that person is a masochist or something absurd like that. All in all I don't see it as being really helpful. Hate leads to the dark side and all that

I'm trying to learn if we actually, at times, hate the person, or simply the competitor... I for one, do not imagine playing a real human while I play... What I mean is that I do not envision a man or woman sitting at a computer playing the game. I understand that they are a real person, and that they are actually controlling my opposing army. But when I hate them in moments, I'm actually hating their units or their decisions... probably not them as a person. I am considering putting an edit in the post to clarify this... it would make the blog seem a lot less irrational and dark haha.
