"The players who are the best win today, the players who improve the most win tomorrow."
This was today's objective:
After getting up I decided to complete the days main activity before I had a shower. The routine was tiring but nothing I couldn't handle. I also discovered a small amount of tense flesh on my arms... the beginnings of muscle. #progress
Yesterday I said I was going to do another 3km run, with tomorrow being another running day I decided to instead run 1.5km at my fastest pace to set another benchmark. In the future I will be doing extra bench mark runs, twice a week. One for 3km and another for the 1.5km, as another way to show my improving fitness.
The day was one of the hottest days in recent memory and early on a got a really bad stitch (forgot to stetch again!) , but I was able to complete the run. I pushed the hardest I could without pushing myself so far that I would have to stop. It took me 7:47 to complete the run averaging 5.07 per km. As with the other run I will be trying to get that time down in the future.
Overall a positive exercise day. I ended up spending most of the day watching the Mtg Pro tour finals and brewing deck ideas with my practice partners.
I only ended up playing three games before the online cup began. But they were three amazing games.
In the only ZvP I faced a allin which I had lost to two days ago, MC's infamous 2/2/2 all in. Despite messing up my build slightly, my overlord positioning and scouting allowed me to see exactly what was coming. I also improved my phoenix defense only losing the overlords which were out on the map and losing no queens or drones. I ended up catching his army in the middle of the map and swamping him with units off the back of my four hatches... He left without a GG. #protoss
My ZvT on the other hand continues to improve, in both games my opponents concentrated on two base aggression dealing lots of damage and sniping my third. But I was able to come back with good unit control and better macro. In the final ZvT I played faster than I have ever before my hands were moving faster than I could think. There were times in both games where a past me would have left. Staying on to win is a testament to how my mindset has improved most of all.
Due to the online cup there was no stream, due to some mess up on Multiplays end, I received no brackets or tournament info. I didnt even know there was a prize. While waiting on battlenet for a admin to contact me my opponent found me first and who was the opponent?
Vegas Jonny Recco the UKs best zerg and as you can imagine I got demolished. But I now have something else to work towards. I have about 6 months until the London finals for both MTG and Sc2 MSI circuits and I intend to work my ass off! One day I will beat him!
Starcraft Summary
Vs Terran (2-0)
- More creep spread.
- Improve early game via build order grinding and responding correctly to helion/banshee harass.
Vs Protoss (1-0)
- Further benchmark practice.
- Learn how to properly defend a 2 gate.
- Learn how to identify every build/all in.
Most of my remaining problems with hopefully go away after I spend a few more days grinding ladder/customs. I can then focus on scouting and working out how to respond to stuff.
As always thanks for reading. Tomorrow I will stream from 9pm- 11pm GMT+1 and I will get in some extra practice during the day.
Note: I am still looking for someone to help me with improving my stream quality via graphics etc, let me know if you can help out!
