Hey TL,
Typing with one hand here. Seaparated my shoulder snowboarding yesterday. I thought i broke my humorous, but i just seaparated my AC tendon. I went did a sick flip in the air after hitting a large ice patch at about 35 mph. I landed on my arm, and needless to say, it hurt like shit. I went down the rest of the mountain, collapsed on my arm, and decided to suck it up and go up again. My friend wisely dissuaded me from doing so after I couldn't stop clutching my arm. That's my good karma from helping a crying 4 year old on the Green slopes.
After that, I was seen by a pro-patrol medic and then tobogganed down the mountain, which was pretty awesome. That was honestly a blast, After being seen by amebic, I was taken to the hospital in one of the staff's cars. Props to Kylie for saving my butt and for having awesome in-car stickers.
After that, I was X-Rayed at the hospital and given some hydrocodone, which, spoiler alert, made everything super chill. Doctor luckily didn't need to operate or anything, which was good. Currently in a sling. Gonna improve on my snowboarding so I suck less. Happy Spring Break, Y'all.

be glad you didn't land face first on those braces

im guessing you're on hydrocodone in the pic? im guessing theres no permanent damage right? cuz you said something about a tendon, and i heard tendon injuries are permanent, but from the tone of your blog it doesnt seem like it.

If you land on your arm with the force directed laterally to your arm/shoulder you are more likely to break your collar bone. If you try to soften the landing with your arm extended you may brake your humerus but it's pretty rare as that bone is pretty damn though. It's more likely you will brake your wrist in that case. AC-joint injury can be a bitch to deal with too btw and depending on how bad it is it's pretty much equivalent to fracturing something in regards to how long it will take to heal. But I'm glad you didn't get schumachered or anything really bad. Snowboarding is not a sport for nerds imo. Actually I would categorically advice against it.

Also, I landed back of my head, with a helmet. WIthout a helmet I'd have been totally fucked. Snowboarding is awesome, and I love it, I just wiped out hard. I love most board sports, skateboarding and longboarding included. The damage is relatively benign so to speak, it's not worth an operation, but I need to see an OT within the week so I'm flying out early for that, and I definitely cannot snowboard/play hockey for 2 weeks.
Also, the braces will be gone very soon, so at least y'all can make fun of my face and not my teeth lol.

i dont think he was talking about ur braces
also what does that slogan mean in the picture

disaster strikes on the (sugar and sp)ice.

This is why I stay indoors. That sucks though, I used to do giant slalom, that is a strange word to type Jesus, always seems like getting hurt on a ski hill was worse that getting hurt elsewhere.

oh it hit me a day or two ago but I think i know what the slogan means. sugar = snow and spice = hills right?
