As of writing, it is a lazy Sunday afternoon after a long first week of school. Not to mention the endless amount of social club events at the end of each school day. For me, the biggest event was Thursday night where my school's Anime club had their annual kick-off party.
Honestly, after being 'elected' (read: winning by default) as the Anime club's 'gaming director', I honestly thought the job would be rosy. Just rock up every week, direct a bunch of nerds to a bunch of games for three hours in a room and have fun. Boy, I was wrong. Much planning from the whole executive team went into the kick-off party that we held, and even though we had a few minor hiccups, the night was a great success.
Here are some videos from the night, one thing I can attest to was the lack of space. We simply did not expect that big of a turnout.
I've met a truckload of new people through my new position - other executives from the other Anime clubs in the metropolitan Sydney area, other members and sponsorship representatives, who have all been a pleasure to talk to. Networking is an essential part of university life, and honestly is the best thing you can take out of it. The only problem for me now is maintaining a healthy balance of study, socializing and networking.
