Today I got to be part of yet another clanwar ish thing, SC2CTL. The match was your truly Not-A-Chance gaming against Colony. Colony was filled with players who were only at platinum level, so it was a tiny bit unfair in our favor, having multiple diamonds to rely on. The result of the clanwar as a whole was 5-2 in favor of NAC. Only our second win for sc2ctl... kinda sad. But at least we actually do have wins .
Today's battle report will be over one of the games that I played, against a terran by the name of Deacidic.
Characters
+ Show Spoiler +
Johnson, the lovable 1-st scouting probe! Dream profession is Aiur Head Chef.
Mike the stalker. Hardest working of them all, and single-handedly preventing scouting and pressure, while receiving the least credit.
Emily, the mothership core. Has a secret love for education, but quickly gets out of hand and fires photons all over the place if pissed off.
Snowden, the sneaky observer, watching out for the protoss race. He checks your computer history too.
Clyde, the zealot. Often times forgotten about due to cutting corners in the early game, and is always brought around in clutch situations. /i]
The Game
+ Show Spoiler +
This game's a pretty fast one by comparison to most of my PvTs. The map is Akilon Wastes, and the match up is of course PvT. I myself have been enjoying them storm first openers that have apparently been becoming popular, as it helps a lot for me while trying to trasition into the mid-late game.
The terran's opener is a gasless FE. His building placement looks a little bit weird, with his first barracks being in the middle of his base while his 2 depots look as if they want to wall off... seems strange to me, when he could just as easily simply wall off.
[i]Well, if you really want to do it like that, i guess I won't stop you...
Johnson scouts out and confirms his expansion pretty quickly, giving me the incentive to go for a faster 2nd base myself.
Scouting and hiding, that's my duty.
I have very little to worry about against a gasless FE, so I am also able to tech up to templars extremely quickly. in my eyes, as with anything, the sooner the better; faster templar can only mean good for me.
At around 9 minutes the terran goes for a light push with some marines off of 3rax. I only have 2 zealots, a stalker, my MSC, and 2 templar, but with storm research and photon overcharge it's way more than enough to hold off. I was planning on getting a storm off to make his marines evaporate, but I was a bit slow and instead made him run away from the photon overcharge.
ALRIGHT LETS KILL SOMETHIN- nvm we're leaving.
Since I had the money (and thanks to Snowden knew that there was no attack coming) I decide to expand to my 3rd. I'm still not sure whether or not I"m actually expanding too late in PvT... maybe I'm supposed to have less probes and expand sooner. I'm not sure. All I know is that drops can pick off bases so very fast. And I hate that.
My zealots valaintly fought against the various rocks in order to get my 3rd expansion secured, and it only came at the cost of 1 zealot.
RIP Clyde
As I take my 3rd and start to get out a few colossi onto the field, a terran attack comes. I saw the move out earlier, but I didn't yet know where the actual attack was, and so I positioned my army in between my main and nat... turns out that his army came barreling in from the front to get my natural.
MAYDAY MAYDAY
I quickly rushed my units over, while casting photon overcharge onto the nexus... but the MMM was too OP! With stimpack, he started to tear down that nexus' health! At the last possible second, he manages to snipe my natural expansion.
BUT AT WHAT COST!?
The cost of his whole army <3.
Aw yeah, stand in that storm baby...
I'm sure that it must have felt good to snipe that nexus... but I am a very vengeful man. Almost man. Young man. Ish.
While rebuilding my natural (not sure if that was very necessary) I just take my whole army and run over to his base. My army is far superior in both tech and unit composition, with all the beautiful splash damage units. As I walk up his ramp, half of his army is out of position working on the destructible rocks, making my attack even more devastating.
My counter attack kills off his remaining army handily, and my enemy GGs out.
A pretty straight forward win for me, while I'm dissapointed that I lost my nexus it was a for the fair price of his whole attacking army, so that worked out well. I don't know if this guy's macro was actually good enough to have beat my either way, however.
Well I have nothing more for today! Finally my first day back to school tomorrow, and I'll probably start getting overran by homework from my AP classes . I just hope I can keep up my 4.0.
Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed. Have a great day, and GL HF!
