Recently, I have been quite unfocused on the things I want to get done that take more than an afternoon or two....So keeping this blog updated is my answer! This is more a place for me to track my progress with certain things i'd like to get done, rather than a social blog, how ever I will probably continue to post random thoughts every now and then.
So here's a little briefing of whats to come in the next few weeks...
I will split this up into 3 categories - Sc2, Music, Fitness.
Starcraft 2
Milestone 1 - Be able to play 3 Terran builds(1 for each match up) against a pc without getting supply blocked or banking more than 750 minerals.
Milestone 2 - Getting to platinum using these builds.
Milestone 3 - Being able to play these builds on ladder without getting supply blocked or banking more than 750 minerals.
I used to play Protoss back in season 1 and 2 of wol, diamond league wasa the highest I ever got. After watching the wcs s1 and the beginning of s2, all the awesome terrans(innovation!) have inspired me to swap. Have never played a single hots game so I'm expecting I will be placed in bronze or silver league and have to slowly crawl my way back up!
The reason I start vs a pc is so I can get the flow of the build down as quick as possible. I don't want to have to think about what buildings to make when, I just want to be able to do it. I understand that starcraft is a reactive game but in my experience from wol, at a low level as long as you just make enough stuff and use a solid build that can handle a variety of situations I will be able to hone my mechanics whilst hopefully maintaining a half decent win loss ratio.
Hopefully, once I can play these builds on ladder without making any mechanical errors I will be able to progress to diamond league. From there I will decide what to do, whether it be continue to refine my solid macro game, learn some aggressive all in builds, or maybe start the process again with a different race.
Music
Goals - Continue to do my guitar practice 6 times a week(1 hour / day) and ALWAYS have a recording project to work on.
- Explore mic placement and Mic choice on my bands material to prepare for our EP recording
My first project is an interpretation of Johnny Cash's Hurt. I know it was originally a NIN song but my inspiration for this comes from the Johnny Cash version. I have already begun to piece this together this afternoon. My main goals in this will be to use my gear(tele, ac15, les paul, marshall DSL100..a modest selection of pedals) to create a very textured sound that helps set a very ambient mood for the song.
Another reason for wanting to use a wide variety of guitar tones is it shall be good practice when it comes to the actual recording process. I own a sm57 and a large dia condenser mic. How ever next week I return from my study break and my TAFE(Australian Collage type of organisation) has a decent selection of mics. Going to try and focus more my own mics however.
My band begins recording our first EP on the 27th July so I would also love to explore mic placement and mic choice on my bands material so I can be as prepared as possible when we enter the studio.
Fitness
Goals - Discipline my diet, and slowly work exercise into my daily routine.
I am not a fat guy, probably around 85kg and 6"1 tall. I do however have enough excess fat on me to annoy me when I look in the mirror(started to pack it on when I hooked up with my gf a few months back). So basically I want to continue to build up a sizeable selection of healthy dishs I can cook and make sure I'm treating my body well.
I don't want to get ripped or anything like that, more just change my lifestyle to a much healthier one. I recently quit smoking, and haven't had more than 3-5 cigarettes in about a month. These have all been in social settings, and this month in particular I have been out drinking quite abit. It's not perfect but i'm not gonna beat myself up over a few mishaps at the pub, instead I'm going to continue to focus on my goal which is to not want to have a cigarette anymore, regardless of my state of intoxication lol
The exercise routine I've worked out is rather simple, but hopefully coupled with a good diet and sticking to it 100% I will begin to lose weight and develop a more healthy lifestyle. The routine is basically 3 times a week I do a bodyweight workout that involves, squats, lunges, pushups, situps, etc, basically some very simple exercises that I can do in my home(it's winter in Aus). I won't go into to much details but I'll start with a rather easy workout and each week increase reps or sets depending on exercise. The other 3 days a week I want to go out and walk for an hour. This i'm actually looking foward to because I have a good set of headphones and I'm constantly bombarded with more new music to listen to than I have time for.
Anyway, this got super long super quick so I'm gonna end it now.
Good night, and thanks for reading!
