Another blog about casting, I figure I should be doing this more often to let you all understand me a bit more, as well as the underground aspects of casting (it's like fight club. kind of.)
But let's get in the mood, like I try to do often. Let's get some generic-MLG music. I listened to this stuff non-stop from when I did that WCS AM week.
I'm sadistic, I love this song probably more I hear it
MLG decided to have community streams for the Spring Championship 2013 Open bracket and I looked forward to working with MLG again as they are quite awesome to work with. After getting confirmation for being one of the community casters I informed all my friends who
Beggar fashion
Stream A, my stream, would be with two of my favorite people, Zoia and Buddha. On one-hand I was happy to work with Zoia and Buddha again, but working with new people is fun too. MLG put this together for a number of reasons, one of which was exposure, and I haven't gotten a chance to listen to many of these other casters work. I was interested in not only working with them, but "making friends is always good", which was something Axeltoss said to me. After he said that I was a bit interested in working with new people, but I can't complain working with the two people I worked with at all.
Day 1 was a bit rough, full day of work behind me and I was met with having to be the main streamer under some really short notice. (Zoia, TOTALLY YOUR FAULT, jk jk <3) But we got everything prepped and started right on time. Of course the first few games will be a bit one sided due to seeding, its always a good time to get warmed up for later. Thats right, casting takes some warm up. Get those vocal chords ready, get the chemistry going, and get everyone in the motion of how things will go. We rotated around and got everything going really well. Zoia and I used to cast Playhem all the time together, and Buddha and I met at IPL5 and actually we didn't have a number of chances to cast with each other, but we were good friends at this point. We had some awesome games lined up in the end, but unfortunately during the last bit of games the worst thing happened ( TheOgnis vs Phog (go go Quantic)). My ISP decided to give out and block all my connections in and out. My effective upload went from 10Mbs to .5Mbs. Nice work, internet connection. The games were unwatchable and we gave up for the night. To all the viewers, I'm sorry, but we can try and recast those games this week and hand em off to MLG.
My ISP's speedtester decided to be funny at this point
The next morning I awoke and said "Thaaaaat can't happen again" sent my ISP 20 messages explaining the current situation and their exposure. Day 2 didn't drop below 8Mb/s the whole day. So apparently they listened.
Day 2 also brought some AWESOME GAMES! Zoia, Buddha and I hit our stride going through some amazing games all day. DeMuslim vs Theognis, Theognis vs Xenocider, Huk vs Sasquatch, QXC vs TheSTC, NoNy vs Sase, Minigun vs HerO, Catz vs TubbyTheFat (HILARIOUS series, btw), and then Sound vs Sase to end it all. I highly recommend checking out those games if at all possible. My last cast of the night, was my favorite one. Buddha and I, a little tired at this point, casted a TvT of QXC vs TheSTC who loved to kill each other's SCVs. Say that 10 times fast. There's not much more to say other than how pleased I was with Day 2 after Day 1 had a number of problems. It was fun and not at all a hardship to cast for those 12 hours as we had the rotation going and enough downtime to do everything right. The scheduling went off without a hitch on MLG's side, which was not expected, not because it's MLG but because it's an offline tournament and massive... but by golly every top of the hour the players were getting ready or completely set up. After the games ended, we all said our goodbyes and goodnights. So long and thanks for all the fish as I proceeded to melt into my bed and deep slumber for 12 hours.
Day 3, I woke up hoping to go outside, but Wax had texted me saying he wanted to watch MLG.. darnit. I just got done 25 hours of MLG... but... well. i can't say no to more StarCraft. Beers and good time were had as we watched all the Finals go on and cracked jokes. Possible return of the Wax and SchAmToo casual casting duo from DH? Maybe...
So we ended our journey. I met many new casters through a chat we used to organize. I re-bonded with Zoia and got to cast with Buddha which I had been meaning to do for a long while.
I have a few thanks I want to put out there for the event:
MLG - I think you know why, I worked with your awesome staff again, and the Finals were amaaaazzinggg production wise. Thanks for the memories yet again
Axeltoss - You organized all of this, you gave so many people a chance to get even more exposure, on behalf of all 12 of us, thank you.
Wiggin - Dude, you were the best admin an event and casters like us could ever ask for. Your work astounded me and you did an amazing job.
Zoia, Buddha - It was such a pleasure working with you guys. I know you both did all of the admin and extra stuff and set up games for me while I kept the stream going and am grateful we had such awesome cooperation, here's to next time! (Even though you both ganged up on me all the time )
Team Quantic - The players, the media staff, and just about everyone who helped retweet and put stuff together this weekend. Great stuff. Go go Hyun! #1 next time, kk?
Community Streamers - Laughs, fun, and friendship from all of you since we all got thrown in that chat. Thanks and great work for all of us! We got some awesome numbers.
Viewers - Thank you all for tuning in and making me enjoy casting even more. I would do this for 10 people, but we hit some high peaks and had an awesome amount of viewers. You guys made this more magical for not only me, but all the other players and casters!!!
