Been MLG gold member since July 2011 or something. My gold membership ends in September and I just canceled my subscription renewal. MLG is going so fast backwards it's sad to see.
1) Fuck this echo in the audio. It was better during Jaedong vs Naniwa but now it's back in all its glory. Yesterday it was sometimes so bad I had to mute the sound.
2) Twitch is horrible. MLG used to have this really cool portal where you could split/quad screen and it had easy navigation. Now I got to search like a madman between 6 stream. So silly. With the portal I could also watch the other games played at MLG easily. Now? Not so much.
3) Not even showing all the matches on championship Sunday? I almost can't believe it. Hopefully this is a false rumor.
4) Downtime. Starting to seriously hate all these stupid reruns. Lucky that they had NASL yesterday so that I could swap streams.

FFS. I needed to write this somewhere on TL. I don't want to fill the LR with this crap. I don't want to necro the last MLG feedback thread from over 2 years ago. Blogs it is.

EDIT: Luckily the games are amazing and the crowd adds the necessary adrenaline.

EDIT 2: The problem is that this event is worse than any MLG event from 2011. This echo is so annoying. HerO vs Hyun has the most horrible sound again. At this stage of the tournament? But the audio is not the only thing, there are multiple aspect being worse. Like the the portal that disappeared, no extra content after matches.
Than there were the NA finals that HerO won. Without a crowd on an big ivory tower in NY. MLG is just going backwards.

**
I had a good night of sleep.

teevox to split screens + multiple screens at the same time etc

Why are you worried that they won't show all games?

You know what the time is at aneheim right?

Community streams all had a schedule that were linked constantly - Tough I do agree a little, as after Rich's black magic I have serious abstinence from not having at a glance view so easily

SC2 isn't even on the featured game list on twitch mobile. Wtf. Bad enough twtich took SC1 off the general game list for twitch. Might as well use this blog to say What the Hell! Also the MLG Michael thing is horrendous I agree. All these issues take away from the great games the players offer. Why are all the casters from last nights games on crappy headphones on Skype casting and not on site. That just seems wrong to me.

I agree that the echo the casters had was a bit annoying, but considering I watched MLG for free I have nothing to really complain about. Even with the echo the casters were still clear enough to hear and understand.

Well I haven't really watched a lot of mlg this weekend. I wasn't interested in Friday or Saturday. I did watch a few games Saturday. But today I have been really into it. I guess for me I know the best players are here, and the games are all pretty epic. Twitch has been fine for me. I did like the whole interface thing they use to do with MLG and twitch, so I could easily switch between streams. During downtime I like to watch the CoD stream or halo stream or a fighter stream. The point I am trying to make is watch another game being played, you may like it, or take downtime to go get food get up and walk around. IDK I know for myself I have lost a lot of interest in watching SC II lately. But a lot of that interest comes from playing it, and I don't play SC II a lot anymore, I've been more into playing my ps3 and playing games with epic stories lol. This MLG is pretty much a standard lan for me. It isn't like amazing like nothing really new, just put together pretty well, I do like the bracket system and thank god liquipedia is so good, because I can follow the results. The echo could be the room set up, maybe MLG didn't test it when they set it all up. I feel like you are just being really nit picky, and your 4 complaints aren't big deal at all. There is 80k people watching on stream, and a full room live, so the majority seem to enjoy it lol, if you want to send a message of complaints email twitch and MLG and turn the stream off so they don't get you for viewing ads.

I do agree, for the most part I wasn't interested at all, despite players being there that I really like. I will admit that I am enjoying all of Naniwa's games, but if he gets knocked out, I may turn it off. I don't really fault MLG for my lack of interest, I just think I am more interested in playing than watching.

I don't know if you could hear it on stream but at the event there was this intermittent 'someone fucks with a mic' BWKSHSHSHSHSHSHHHHHH noise

it was a nightmare

but everything else is awesome ^-^

Tbph the worse offender with sound is that the caster mics are continually peaking and cracking on stream (its likely a combination of both the mics being cheap and they're too hot). It's very bad for someone like me, for the average viewer idk if they notice much. The thing people are picking up on with regards to the echo is that the audience mics are likely directly connected to the main mixing board while the caster mics aren't and are actually a couple of hundred ms delayed for whatever reason (maybe some post processing or a problem with two audio interfaces not being in sync, cable transmission, idk). So the audience mics are actually in front of the caster mics which feels somewhat backwards when talking about echo and reverberation. I haven't really minded this that much, but it shouldn't happen when it would be so easy to set up the proper delays on each audio source so that they match, or match more closely.

Agreed 100%, WTF is up with the audio and having to search around 6 lagging streams to find some good games?! Get a decent schedule up and a decent portal from which to view the games, this is amateur stuff.

I was trying to watch on my phone earlier but it wouldn't load in the twitch mobile app, MLG still not broadcasting to mobile devices? Or is it a twitch thing. Either way it makes no sense...

I'm still appalled that after all these years, they still just insert music and a shot of a crowd or player getting ready to fill time. I understand if now they're slowly shifting from SC2, and resources won't be there, but there was no excuse in the earlier tournaments.

NASL has been one of the only "tournaments" to produce actual content to fill time, scheduled segments, etc... That's what actual broadcasting is at real sporting events. Oh, there's a stoppage? Here's some analysis, here's an interview, here's general colour commentary.

We need to start bridging that gap.

Could've used this site if you wanted to watch all the 6 streams at once

http://www.multitwitch.tv/mlgsc2/nasltv/mlgsc2a/mlgsc2b/mlgsc2c/mlgsc2d

Personally I love this MLG event...I do have some lag spikes on stream but I'm pretty sure it's on Twitch's end rather than MLG as I've experienced this issue when watching some DOTA2 games

Yes it could better. All events can be improved upon.

I am enjoying the games Ive seen. Casters are doing well, games are great. I guess Im easily pleased. I just enjoy the fact that there is so much gaming wise going on. Remember when WCG was the only game in town, once a year??

Hope you can find something to keep you interested.

I still love watching MLG. I will continue doing so. But without gold membership next time. Next time I'll mute the adds instead of muting the crowd shots and the stupid recaps from previous MLGs.

I thought everthing was great =).

had 0 sound issues,
had no lag issues,
adblock ftw
like this format INFINITELY more than the stupid seeded players from last year...that was garbage tournament setup/format imo.

have enjoyed it thoroughly... am not surprised that.. as usual... every1 who follows the scene is a negative whiner who are going to complain no matter what especially when it comes to MLG

They were on twitch Mobil all yesterday. Why wouldn't they BW on there. That's such a weird move.

This MLG was great in my opinion, with all 6 streams going on it really allows for a better online experience than the past MLGs. The best part about going to MLGs is getting to cheer on friends and watching the non-broadcasted matches, and this MLG gave me the chance to see more matches online than any other past event. It really sucks not being able to go to the event live but this is really close to a great experience!

I would have loved to have more streams and maybe better players casted but that would've made my life harder and 6 was sufficient for day 2

I feel like every big match was covered, which is what I cared about. I will admit the other player made it so simple to see what was on what stream. But who knows what happened with that. NASL doesn't want to use MLG stuff they want to be there own brand. Audio has always been an issue in esports lol. I don't know for sure but I don't think it is simple thing to set up audio for the live audiance and the stream and casters and the game sounds haha. But hey you can hear the women screaming so what more do you need?

That moment you want to report somebody, and then you find that it's already been reported @ MaestroSC

Biggest problem I had was no phone streaming, I got by with NASL first 2 days, but I missed out on all of championship sunday because I didn't bring my computer.

Worse than any MLG from 2011? Were you not here for the abomination that was the first MLG Dallas of that year? The one where lag and technical difficulties caused the vast majority of the tournament to be broadcast as the idle crowd scene?

i didnt report him, i laughed when i read it because if something so simple can make a guy so angry... he clearly has issues beyond my post, which is beyond my concern/care lol

also idk how i was flaunting it at all with my 2 word fragment lol.

Anyone confirm that you could watch this on a mobile platform? I could never get it to load on my ipad. I tried to get to it through the twitch app and from the website and neither would work. Couldn't find it in the twitch app and it never loaded when I went to it through the browser. And those people that say watch it from a computer.... well obviously I didn't have access to a computer when I was trying to watch it. I like to watch sc2 while taking a dump and also on road trips when I usually only bring my Ipad.

I missed most of the live experience due to my own mistake. Friday the event started after I went to bed. So I check the vods the next day, only to find I could only watch the live rerun of main stage and the few games made it to youtube.

Saturday, my pc refused to allow twitch streams, I was playing Dota2 (sorry?) instead for it, ran CCleaner at 10 or so, after which I managed to catch a few games before bed.

Sunday, great! Watched the final few matches until I had to go to bed, only missing the finals. This morning I managed to catch the youtube vods without spoilers (except that I KNEW it was 5 games). So I just skipped game 4 since it was spoiled Hyun would win.

So all in all, I had few sound issues since I managed to miss almost every game played at the tournament. I don't see how I would be enticed to buy a subscription since Dreamhack/WCS EU/Proleague have a much better price for their much better content (free/5 bucks)

Final note, I watched most of the Axeltoss/Axslav games muted, sorry guys, I actually enjoy the games more listening to songs from my playlist.

tldr; friday starts late, saturday pc issues, sunday all games but finals seen live.

EDIT: I would like to thanks NASL for allowing vods, 90% of the friday content and about half of saturday I got from you guys. So technically I got more out of MLG from your stream than from MLG itself.

Every MLG I've seen has had long delays, and the sound really wasn't that bad. Other than when people chanted USA, I barely noticed the echo.

Mobile was spotty, at least on mlgsc2. I think NASL always was available. MLG wasn't supposed to be per se, but I know some people got it to work on tablets in the venue, so I'm not sure.

I think it won't appear on the twitch app, but if you go the twitch website you can watch it. That is my guess on how they got it to work.

On my Android, I used Streamie Free to watch it since Twitch.tv won't work in my browser. I missed most of the games from the community streams aside from NASL.tv, but otherwise I was able to catch a lot of games with no problem.

lmao nice job typing that - exactly how it sounded. xD Scared the crap out of me. Kind of lame the players had to deal with such a nuisance. Must've been distracting.

Having the casters on stage was awesome this time around. That was an upside for sure. But honestly, I feel like spectating last year was a lot better because there was the group stage to hang out by, and the players area was in the middle of the venue. You were able to see anyone's screen for the most part. Having it in the corner with only one angle to view from was really sucky. Lil' ole me couldn't get close enough to see a damn thing, and I didn't feel like waiting around or shoving my way through. Decided to snag a good seat at the main stage because that was the best thing to do while I was there. I dno, there were more players and personalities that I was excited to meet last year, too. Don't want to sound like a complainer but those are my two cents. Not often do I get to attend sc2 events. It was a good time, nonetheless!
That's what she said.

this is what players asked for. they hated being in the center of the room, and im sure people fought to NOT have the audience at their back talking/laughing/yelling etc that fans do... is really disruptive to their competition.

multiple personalities have voiced that it is "cool" to be surrounded by fans...but they also all comment how it hurts them and influences the games etc. so I wouldn't blame MLG for this.

adblock ftw

Fuck you.

User was warned for this post

lol go outside.

ur clearly not ok. fresh air will do you some good.

If you don't want people to respond poorly to your use of adblock then don't flaunt it with crap like "ftw."

It was fine wtf

You have problems if you think that was a justified response

I'm just saying that some people are strongly against the use of adblock and that people who use it should realize that and be careful not to provoke others (intentionally or accidentally).

And I didn't say it was a justified response, but thanks for implying that I "have problems." Jesus that made me mad to read that.
