Yea... I thought it would have been pretty obvious from the front page of TL and whatnot, but it was my bad for not putting up spoiler tags. My bad guys lol

DONT READ IF YOU HAVENT WATCHED WCS EU FINALS OR WANT TO WATCH THEM.

+ Show Spoiler +

I just watched WCS EU and saw IM.Mvp completely dominate his way through the tournament. It was amazing to see him just push through opponent after opponent just completely wrecking them in every single form. Every single game he would seem to bring out a new style of play and still win with it. He would switch from a very turtly meching style to a hyper APM intensive bio play that just pulled his opponents apart. He was 3-0'ing amazing players and it seemed as if nobody could stand in his way.

He didn't lose composure no matter what the situation was. In game 2 versus Dimaga it seemed as if he was in an un-winnable position, always being attacked when he was down by almost 50 supply. But engagement after engagement he seemed to never let his army die. He was meching and placing his tanks in amazingly good positions where units would be bottlenecked and was always on top of the tech switches from the zerg. That is what was really phenomenal in my honest opinion. Dimaga would just lose army after army, switching tech routes all over the place from roach hydra viper to muta ling, to infestor ultra, but despite all of this being thrown at him MVP was able to just use clutch scans to see small packs of mutas coming out to start making thors, and split up his tanks to avoid getting owned by blinding cloud and knew when to keep his tanks un-sieged.

After the games were done I read in the twitch chat and it was understandable. Europeans were all upset about their players being eliminated from the tournament, and there were especially a lot of players complaining about TERRAN OP as always. Terran will always be the scapegoat of peoples anger on the game, regardless of the winrates of players.

Seeing a player just be able to dominate a tournament like that really inspires a player to just get onto the ladder and play some more games. Only a lowly master league player, but maybe one day I'll be able to just have a ridiculous tournament record like that.

Very much so agree. I'm not a Terran but MVP is one of my favourite, if not my favourite player, becasue he just wills his way to winning, and he's done so over and over again. It's truly amazing.

Guy is just plain likeable. Plays so well, is a nice guy, and just a great role model for the SC2 scene. I think if he wins the WCS event then he is the best player to grace the game. However...he might not win the event...he did leave Korea to go to WCS Europe for a reason

Yeah, because once you're in Code B, it takes 2 seasons to work your way up to Premier.

He did not "flee from the competition" as many insinuate.

He won vs less experienced players with an inferior training regimen. He's an amazing player with an amazing legacy, but honestly he doesn't deserve much credit for this particular championship. He chased the easy money and shied away from the true competition, where he could fight to be the best in the world and where he's been invested for 3 years. And I say this as an Mvp fan.

MVP did also lose 0-2 to Lucifron and dimaga in round of 16 and 32. He didn't completely streamroll the tournament, but he gave a good account of himself.

This.

I wonder how many times we have to repeat this.

Mvp competed in Europe because it takes 2 seasons to go from Code B to Code S. If Mvp had stayed in Korea, there is a 0% chance he would have been able to compete in the end-of-year BlizzCon finals.

Now, if you look at someone like TaeJa, who was in Code S and then went over to WCS NA's Code A, there's an argument to be made that TaeJa was grabbing easy money. (In reality, the decision probably involved various team members and it was more complicated than grabbing easy money.)

Unlike TaeJa, Mvp was in Code B... and he was offered a seed into the Premier Division of WCS Europe. And he crushed WCS Europe. I highly doubt he wanted easier competition.

In fact, it's laughable... you're talking about someone who has won 4 GSLs... Look at PuMa, who goes around winning foreign tournaments. Now look at Mvp, who rarely ventures out of Korea. Mvp, whose most notable successes have all occurred in GSL. And now people start claiming that Mvp is somehow afraid of the competition.

Well, WCS Season Finals are coming up, and Mvp can show his skill then.
