Hi TL, long time lurker and sc2 fan here
A little about me: I'm a high school student from Winnipeg Manitoba, and I've played sc2 pretty much from release until now, with a few breaks in between. I've watched lots of streams, tournaments and events but I've never really got seriously into laddering and improving due to a combination of school, extreme ladder anxiety and time restraints, but I hope to maybe change that in the coming months.
Now, the reason I am writing this blog is because I am on a 3 month exchange to Hamburg Germany, and to make a long story short I am going to have a lot of free time by myself in the next few weeks. It would be awesome if someone could maybe give some suggestions or point me in the right direction to something E-Sports related, since the scene back home isn't very large and I want to get a taste of what it's like here. Any help would be appreciated

instead of playing video games while on exchange to germany, you should probably go and socialize instead.

Go find some Hamburgers. I like 5 guys.

hamburg is a very active city and a decent amount of people i know are in love with it and visit it often.
Maybe not the best time to do computer stuff.

Visiting Germany several times, I find Hamburg to be rather uninteresting to be honest(sorry ). As your staying for 3 months, I suggest going to Berlin for a long weekend (friday until monday or something). Berlin is a wonderful city with a lot more interesting history.

I found this a hilarious comment. Maybe what you meant to say is that Berlin fits your mod'ren lifestyle.

I was thinking more along the lines of going to live events but the problem is I don't know where to start . I think I phrased it poorly in the OP but I don't want to be gaming at all here I want to do some interesting things. Now, if I could do some non-gaming related things that would be awesome too, it doesn't have to be limited to E-Sport. I'm open to all suggestions.

Funny you say that, we have a 4 day trip to Berlin planned in a few days. I'm looking forward to it a lot

Thing is, however, he's not going to ask people like you for help on that subject, as you've probably never experienced sunlight. So rather than trying to act like you're all cool and know how life works, just answer the mans question or remain silent?

I dont know if there are any Esports events in Hamburg, but the ATC-offline Finals in Krefeld is something you might consinder (dont know the exact date). Also, because you have a trip to berlin planned, you might want to visit the esports bar "Meltdown" (http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=400731)

If you are going to visit Berlin, you can also visit the CK99 ( http://www.ck-99.com/ ) its another eSports / Gaming bar.

Dont know anything about Esports in Hamburg, as I havnt looked for it. I think though most Esports stuff happens in Cologne and Berlin (Both great citys to give a visit aswell) Kinda uncreative at the moment, so just let me list some typical destinations, most of them touristy. - "Planten und Blomen" is a big park right next to the big "Fernsehturm" (TV-Signal-Sending-Tower. A big ass tower you can see from pretty much all Hamburg, can be visited aswell I think). Great on a sunny day - Get yourself a public-transportation ticket and visit Subwaystation "U3 Landungsbrücken". There is a dock for public ferrys that take you for example to the "Elbstrand" (beach). Great way to spend time at "out" River for cheap. - The "Speicherstadt" in general. Its the old docking and storage district of Hamburg. There is the "Hambug dungeon", its like a glorified Haunted House, the miniatur train musem (kids like that a lot, by now they pretty much rebuild the entire planet there..) and from what I heard is a great visit: The "Gewürzmusem" (Spices Museum); Being a maritime city the museum has spices from all over the world. - "Hagenbecks Tierpark": a rather expensive Zoo. Its pretty neat though. Watch out for "Zoo Nights" or something like that. Its a night in the zoo, with fireworks and music everywhere. - The planetarium, if you are interested in the stars and the "Stadtpark" (big city park) right next to it. - The "Sternschanze" is a great place to grab a few beers and meet people; "Herren Simpel" a nice little cafe, "Haus dreiundsiebzig (house 73)" The hip hop, reaggae place I know of . As well as the pub district at "Altona". - Probably one of the most famous places of Hamburg is the "Kiez" - St.Pauli. The red light and party district. I tend to not go into clubs that have huge neon lights on it, as they tend to cost a lot of money and people in there are anti-fun. Never had a fun night in a club that charged entry fees. My suggestion: "Hamburger Berg" the street right next to the KFC. - The "Mönkebergstrasse" right next to the central station is the biggest shopping district in Hamburg. Its huge. At the end of it there is the City hall next to it is "Jungfernstieg". Another shopping district with the "Alster" next to it. - If you are into sight seeing: Hamburg has 4 (?) big, old churches and the city hall. All great buildings. - Hamburg also has a lot of theaters and stuff. "Lion King" is a very famous musical. Pretty costly though. I like the English Theater near "Mundsburg".
Also from my experience: People either like Hamburg or Berlin. Dont know a lot of people that like both =) I would always prefer a weekend in Hamburg over Berlin. As a general advice: Just walk up to people that seem nice and ask them stuff you need to know or just to hang out with them (in the park for example). People will be interested to talk to you as soon as they know you are from canada.
Have a great stay in the City of the North =) "Moin Moin"

Forgive me, but why is his comment hilarious? I think most people would agree that Berlin has quite a history to it. More than Hamburg anyways. Why did you spell "modern" (I think that's what you're trying to spell) as "mod'ren"?

Hamburg has way more and a way more interesting history than Berlin. Berlin was a joke in Hansa times.

Well and Berlin has the whole Berlin-Wall thing going. Guess people find that more interesting. Kinda pointless to argue the likeablity of a city though.
