Hey all,
I'm not sure if you all realize that GomTV's GSL actually has a store that sells their themed geek gears for fans and supporters. A few months ago, they picked a handful of people to review some of their products and I was lucky enough to be one of them. I took some time before writing this review as to thoroughly give an informed opinion. So if you're curious on what they're selling, read on!
Weeks ago I got a package from GomTV:
I was really excited to try them out, especially the GSL mouse because it's not just any mouse, it was a Zowie Mico Mouse. This mouse is special because it's the same kind that DongRaeGu uses...and you know... I'm somewhat of a DRG-fan. lol
The Zowie Mico mouse is very nice. It has a sleek design and glossy finish. It glides a little bit on my mohogany table top and feels good at the grip. The mouse was apparently designed to be ambidextrous, as it is completely symmetrical horizontally. I was a bit surprised it had only 3 buttons (two and the scroll button) instead of five, but now that I think about it, perhaps extraneous buttons aren't very good for professional Starcraft and the developers had pro-gaming in mind. Having played over 100 games of StarCraft using this mouse, I can also confirm that the clicks are responsive and fast.
The scroll wheel stays lit when you plug the mouse in and the light actually means something. You can change the DPI of the mouse by holding down the two main buttons then scrolling up and down.
The settings are
400 DPI: red light
800 DPI: purple light
1600 DPI: blue light
neo: What DPI are you using DRG?
DRG: 800 DPI
neo: ah mah gawd!! me too!!! <3333333
DRG: 800 DPI

Personally I've never used a mouse with an adjustable DPI on the fly before. I'm guessing this is a nice feature to have especially for pro-gamers who travel a lot and use a ton of different computers with various mice settings in each. You don't need to open the mouse control panel or in-game client to adjust....just press and scroll.
Like I said, it seems like this mouse is designed with pro-gamers in mind, but at the relatively affordable price of 35 dollars (40 bucks for GSL brand not including shipping cost), this mouse is a worthwhile investment for amateurs and fans a like.
Hey, you want to know who else uses Zowie Mico mouse?
+nice design
+comfortable and responsive
+elegant DPI setting
+very light, easy on wrist
+affordable (less than half the price of Razer Mice)
Overall Score: 5/5
+1 point for DRG-ness = 6/5
The next item on the list is the phone case. Gom asked me which phone I have and sent one accordingly.
This is the phone case for the iphone4/4s. The front is a simple white color with GSL logo on it.
The back has a hole for the phone camera and a sidehole for the volume controls. It's made of plastic, so the material is slightly bendable, which is how snap-on cases work. The problem I have with this case is that, once you put it on, it's really hard to ply it off. I keep very short finger nails, so I had to use some tools which could have damaged my phone.
Other than the design and logo, I'm afraid this product doesn't offer much else. The plastic cover is thin, the front bumper is thinner. I don't see this phone case offering much protection by any means. This item is purely cosmetic and honestly there are much better deals out there if you're looking for cosmetic at the price of $30.00.
For this design, if I was going to support GSL, I might consider buying it for 10 bucks, but no more than that. For 30 dollars, I expect the case to give my phone some actual protection when I drop it....
+bright colors and clearly visible GSL logo
-does not offer protection for phone
-hard to put on/ ply off
-too expensive
Overall Score: 1/5
The final item I'm reviewing is the Zowie PC-M GSL mousepad.
This mousepad rocks! It has a soft silky smooth surface and beautifully designed front. The back is a glossy black mat that protects the mousepad from water*..*ahem* soda* spills. I dare say I like this mousepad better than the Razer Goliathus in terms of material and texture. It just seems smoother on the mouse, which leads to more comfortable controls. The GSL logo and bright but soft colors fit well on almost any gaming setup (unless everything on your desk is black ... I guess) This baby is priced at $30.00, which is 10 dollars more expensive than the Goliathus. But hey, you pay for what you get, I think it's worth the extra pretty penny.
+nice design
+superior material
+functions well with mice
-pricy
overall: 4/5
That's it for my review, I hope you all find it to be informative. I also hope GomTV doesn't hate me forever for being brutally honest. I know they won't because they're cool and stuff.
