you've probably thought about it. how you'd feel if something ever happened to a loved one. would you cry? or just be downtrodden? would the pain slowly creep up over a matter of days, or just ram you like a truck? or would you even be affected at all?
you may think you're tough. that you've gone through a lotta shit and can handle it. that you'll feel the emotions you're supposed to feel - concern, care, sympathy. that you'll be able to tell them it's gonna be alright.
well it's not like that. it hits where it hurts. and it hits hard. even for something not that serious. the metaphor "my heart just sank" doesnt just seem like some poetic imagery when you actually experience what it means. doesnt matter how tough you are. doesnt matter how much shit youve gone through. you wont just feel concern, care, and sympathy. you'll feel like someone ripped out your guts, stabbed you in the back, and kicked you in the groin. and you'll feel love pouring out for your loved one.

Yep, pretty much like that.
Unless you have stuff to push your brain chemistry into a more pleasant track.

ya, true indeed. You always wonder what your reaction will be if something like that happens.

Idk about this, I lost some very close to me and it isn't a feeling of having your heart ripped out. Its having a hole in your heart that can never be filled. That never goes away, and acts as a daily reminder.

I feel heartwrenching pain most times, it's unescapable, and it's, quite honestly, god awful to feel :/.
