This guy this guy. He came from nothing. He worked his way up from rock bottom in the semiconductor industry with his baby Nvidia. During the worldwide financial recession, Huang was one of the few ceos who voluntarily reduced his salary to $1. Other notables include Eric Schmidt, CEO of Google and Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple.
Currently though, Huang receives a multi million dollar salary once again (he deserves it though for what he did to take Nvidia to the top). His 5 year compensation is around ~120million USD. Huang has a vision for Nvidia in the future. I suspect that with the increase of games such as starcraft, demand will also increase for Nvidia related products, which will bolster the company's growth.
How is he relevant to esports? Well, ask just about any PC gamer what video card to get, and I think the majority of them will point to one of Nvidia's lineups. Nvidia itself is a monster of a company. It's market cap is around ~8 billion USD.
Brandon is welcomed under Forbes 30 under 30 list (along with Sean Plott aka Day9) for being a co-founder and CEO of Riot Games. He is 29 years old. And he has created a company that is estimated to be worth a quarter of a billion. He has yet to prove to the world what legacy he will leave behind though (I'm sure we will all see what it is within the next 10 years) so there is still a huge potential for where this guy can take Riot Games.
Why is he relevant to esports? Well, I'm not that big of a fan of League of Legends so I will skip this
He is also known as one greedy son of a bitch. Ol' Bobby Kotick is the current CEO of Activision-Blizzard. In 2012, this guy pulled in 64.9million USD in salary, about 56million of the compensation was given as a stock. That puts Kotick as one of the highest paid CEO's in the USA. Not only does he make a lot, but he has big plans for the future too. He is infamous for not wanting to explore new game developments and instead, rely on the larger, more successful franchises, that have already "proven themselves". This is a similar approach to what major movie companies do and they have had a ton of success (Avengers Franchise). As much as he loves his money, this guy also knows how to make money as well so I kind of have to agree with his business strategy to grow the company. At least he didn't take the EA Games approach to the industry.
Why is he relevant to esports? Something that might not be as well known, in other words, usually farther down the wikipedia page, is that Kotick is a director on the board of Coca Cola. Aka the Coca Cola that sponsors the olympics. God bless my soul if there ever comes a time where a company as universal and big as Coca Cola ever sponsors a Starcraft/esports team.
Anyways, at least we know that Kotick is 100% behind the starcraft Franchise so don't expect anything but good things to keep happening as long as the money keeps flowing in for R&D.
Definitely 3 fairly important people imo, but NOT as important as Barrack Obama!

You just shot your credibility in the foot lol
my credibility is through google and the wikipedia pages of these people, not much credibility to begin with there :/ I'm not a member of an important website, and I have never met any known esports figures in my life.
I am just freely voicing my opinion on people who I think have money and their relevance to esports
I thought it was perfect, that LoL line is hilarious.
You should include that dude that bought CCM and made iG because he spent $6mil and succeeded in forming the best Dota team, that's pretty sick. Also they have a relevant LoL team I think.

simple, but good. I disagree with torte, you are just stating three people that are highly influential and you are correct. I don't think it has anything to do with credibility. Unless he's saying your copy/paste is wrong and those pictures are not the actual people. That would actually be kind of funny.
As Heyoka said though the guy who owns IG has put a massive amount of money into e-sports as well. You should add him to the list!
Cool stuff. Sometimes, in the far recesses of my mind, I would wonder, "Has e-sports created some very wealthy individuals?" Yet, I never spent the time to check it out. Thanks for this! I had no clue Riot was worth a quarter of a billion dollars. That's a ton of money.
the guy that was sponsoring NaVi Arbalet and the one that sponsored a chinese dota team I think ( e.home maybe not sure ) ( yes my answers are from the past I'm like leaving in a paralle dimension only late in time )

IG is one of the best in the world , they are #3 iirc in China, but I'll have to check Leaguepedia. I'm just waiting for Misaya and W.E. to overtake them >:D.

I did a little research, the guy who spent the 6 mil is appearently the son of the 11th richest man in china.
His name is Wang Sicong, he is the ONLY child of Chinese billionaire Wang Jianlin, who made it big off of real estate (net worth is around 8.5billion USD). Basically this Wang Sicong, who is the owner of iG, was able to afford that $6mil price coz his dad is a billionaire. lol.
Eh, everyone else on my short little list have each made their own fortunes, not saying that being rich without hard work IS a bad thing
