Hello, I'm David Shin in Michigan.
This will be my first blog entry... ever. Not sure how to begin, but I want to discuss TvZ. I'm a long time mid-master player from WoL and I recently started to play some HoTS. As a Terran, WoL was very painful in the late game in all the non-mirror MU. The feared infestor broodlord combination was virtually unbeatable.
In HoTS Terran is a different beast. Combined with a reformed versions of Thors and hellions, Terrans can now have a competent late game army. With scvs buffering and repairing, Terran mech army now can outright win late game engagements with enough control. I understand Terrans are currently abusing medivacs and mines, but Terran mech is now the best composition against Zergs.
Terrans must stop and realize that the roles of the races have changed. Late game army cost efficiency is: Zerg(Worst), Terran(Best), Protoss(Best) This is truly the order Blizzard wanted, inferring from the Starcraft lore, books, and campaigns. Correct mech composition with scvs pulled will trade very well.

I use to only do that strat, and it is very strong. However, for me at high master/gm, there are zergs who know how to crush this style. Either mass roach midgame pressure, or base trade. Vipers are good as well.
At mid master, I can imagine it being very strong, and at my level I'm sure it could work too against many zergs, but not the good ones who will roach drop the shit out of your main (for example). The kind of map is also quite important to consider.
Overall though, I think it's better to mainly stick to copying the build orders from the top korean gm terrans.
However, if you do decide to stick to this Thor/hellion style (which could work out great), I would suggest doing lots of hellbat drop harass. Just sitting in your base,. making your deathball, won't get you very far in the long run.

Cattle you are incorrect when you say mech is better then bio widow mine medivac. It's pretty wrong, I for instance rarely lose to mech it's really easy to beat for me and this is at GM level. I can't remember the last time I lost to mech it's been a long time ^^.

Vipers and competence will allow zerg to crush mech easily unless you have a massive advantage. M4 beats mech any day as long as you have the APM to multitask.
The only time that i'll ever play turtlemech into thor/hellbat attack is if i can kill the zerg third with a hellbat timing after a 1rax FE... otherwise the zerg can beat mech really easily

Mech is ridiculously strong, but also ridiculously hard to play consistently without mistakes. Yeah sure, using the full armory line up (everything from factory + starport) into a very strong composition is very, very, strong, IF you can get there, IF you play perfectly and IF you dont fuck up. Compared to bio widowmine style, its just so unforgiving that people dont really want to do it. Plus its just so hard to be aggressive with mech, something that goes directly against the TvZ mindset - dictating the flow of the game. If you decide to turtle hard with mech you will lose most of the time, as you will NOT be able to get the needed bases to do.
To be honest, if you have the skill to play mech at a very high level, using all that map awareness, game knowledge and multiple unit control going with something thats fast, doesnt take much time to setup and is much more forgiving will probably give you better results. But still, no one is going to deny that winning with mech in any matchup is ridiculously satisfying.

you should post some replays, I've lost every TvZ mech game I've tried.
