LucasArts studios, formerly LucasGames, have closed. Their work was a big part of what got me into gaming, from Monkey Island to Jedi Knight. Rock Paper Shotgun wrote a more cogent obituary than I could, but you only have to look at the amount of Lucasarts games on something like the excellent Point Clicking website to see how well loved it was, for good reason.
For me one of the saddest parts is that Disney's press release said "After evaluating our position in the games market, we've decided to shift LucasArts from an internal development to a licensing model, minimizing the company's risk while achieving a broader portfolio of quality Star Wars games." when the people involved with Lucasarts throughout its existance produced so much more than just Star Wars games. I really hope those other licenses aren't lost.
