Hi Everyone,
As i talked about using the chameleon hotkey setup i've changed a little bit to fit how i used to play on my old hotkey setup! (BTW thanks slowbacontron you've put a bit of insight on how to get used to the hotkey setup and have replied to me thanks! <3)
Anyways its simples for me its not really a change on the actually hotkey setup, but the mentality of where my units and buildings go... i'll explain....
On my old hotkey setup i had 6 as my hatches or and 5 as queens or as playing terran buildings and would tab through them e.g. i have factory and rax in same hotkey group and would just press tab. Well with how the spreadsheet showed, it showed D as hatches/CC and G as army and F as Rax etc...
I was kinda getting used to it but found my fingers would keep adding units or buildings to the hotkey groups by mistake which is a huge pain! So i decided to change it to G as my CC/hatches and F as my Rax/Fac and D as army which is kinda the same as my old setup with how i used to control my army and macro...
Well it seems to be going well but some of the other hotkey groups for harassing and scouting seem a bit more further away now...
What do you guys recommened do the switch i just made and make sure to stick to it and maybe move some of the other group hotkeys closer or just go back to how i started learning the chameleon hotkey setup and just try to not add units into the building control groups?
(BTW i played a diamond zerg and almost beat him just need to work on mechanics and macro more! thanks for the advice guys who replied from my other blog!)
Thanks everyone for reading and happy gaming!

Hey, i play zerg as well.
I have 1-6 as control groups, r, f and g as control groups 7-9. F2-F9 as camera hotkeys, spacebar for base camera. I bind my queens to r,f, and g.
To be honest my hotkey setup is absolutely terrible atm. I think ideally you want to use base camera injects, where you bind all your queens, base camera, and inject to three consecutive keys and just cycle through them to inject your larva. I do believe this will be faster than JUST using base camera which a lot of korean zergs are doing. I guess I'll have to really test it out once I have free time...

Unfortunately, I have no expertise on how to play Zerg, but I can share how I use my control groups as Terran: F for CCs and upgrades, D for unit production buildings, and mainly E,R,G for army (if I ever get good enough to use multiple groups for my army ) In fact, I just looked at the spreadsheet myself, and, well, that's the recommended usage of the groups. I feel that the CCs and production groups are the MOST important groups in one's gameplay, so putting them on the homekeys is probably the best idea. As for accidentally adding units/building to groups, yes, I have done that before. It's annoying, but I believe it goes away once you're used to playing with the groups.
Anyway, I'm happy to help whenever I can!
@FrogsAreDogs If you ever want to change your hotkey setup to one that is developed by someone who's put extensive research and work into it, take a look at TheCore, Chameleon, and/or Darkgrid.

Hi, I have seen those layouts, and frankly they are terrible lol. Those layouts are really really good at making a few things extremely efficient, such as clustering control groups and abilities close together, but they completely ignore some aspects of game mechanics such as camera hotkeys. Another thing to consider is that although all your hotkeys/control groups are close together, when you are performing multiple different actions you don't them to be arranged in such a way that you end up using only a few fingers for most of the keys.
That's why I dislike TheCore for example, since it has most control groups spread horizontally to the right. Accessing each group is fast for sure, but only for your index finger. So when you want to quickly go through multiple control groups you are pretty much stuck with spamming just one finger.
