That was amazing. I love Game of Thrones and Arya, and that was incredible Glider.
|
i dont watch the game of thrones, so maybe its a show thing, but I like how you decided to make it a very dark and dull portrait with a a very bright smile.
|
so good! can't wait til it comes back again!
|
Still at it, eh? You ever think about doing landscapes or animation or something?
|
You are so fucking talented.

10 times may sound like a lot to you...

lol. Well I can't wait to watch it when it's reuploaded

Interesting. Glad I wasn't spoiled, I guess. (assuming it's something that hasn't been shown on the TV series)

Arya is one of the most fun characters to read in the books, she is among my favorites

Some sad psychotic people out there on the internet. Who the fuck does that to an artist as talented as Glider? Hell, who the fuck does that period? I would guess the kind of troll / loser that probably can't fight IRL to save his life, let alone kill someone. Lol.
Amazing work as usual though.

Can't get much better than that. Totally mindblowing.

haha, thanks for your concern but it wasn't some psycho online, just a humorous joke from a friend, otherwise I wouldn't find it amusing. cheers.

Great work as always Yeah this would be an awesome idea, maybe you could also draw a skittle and post it to their facebook page. Always glad to see your work and I do like your choice as Anya or Rob would have been the top two to go with for a portrait if you ask me.
|
I'm sure you've answered this before but do you sell your portraits by chance? ^^ Or are most of them paid for in advance

ohhh dear Glider you did it again 5/5

I never cease to be amazed by your work Glider. Keep them coming ^_-

This will sound mean, but you should have stopped ~3/4 of the way through. Arya looks too freaking pudgy by the end!
Seriously, I'm only saying this because this could be the best thing I've seen this year, instead of simply in my top five. I love your interpretation of Arya in both your words and your drawing.

...and what do we say to Glider? Yes, awesome. =)

I appreciate your sincere thoughts, and criticism is always welcome, but allow me to try to defend my self a little bit.
1. when it comes to children, especially where the jaw structure is relatively round, lighting/angle/distance can play a significant role in the perceived "pudginess", for example
http://www.forevergeek.com/wp-content/media/2012/03/Arya-Stark.jpg and http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Arya_Stark_5328.jpg
see how the left side of her face seems fuller/pudgy and it is not even so well lit as in my drawing (more light will make it seem more rounded)
now look at this: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eaHD2vm8w2g/Tcm5E0LhoFI/AAAAAAAABaM/0iNSxJh_WHA/s1600/arya.jpg similar age, but with a different lighting, see how skinny her face suddenly looks because instead of light, shadows falls on her cheeks.
2. the younger they are, the rounder the face tends to be (in this case the actress Maisie Williams tends to have a rounder face to begin with), and in the books arya is about 9 years old around this time, so about a significant 3 years younger than her counter part in the tv show. I took this into consideration as well to meet it half way so the drawing is younger than her counter part in the show and a bit closer to the age in the books, this combined with a straight light to the right cheek, may create the perceived pudginess if you compare it to a 12 year old Maisie Williams.
this is Maisie Williams now at 14: http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120703095450/gameofthrones/images/2/21/Maisie_williams_GoT_Premiere_2012.jpg
and as you can see as she gets older, her jaw will be more and more sharper, turn the clock back 4 years and that's where my drawing was aimed at. So I wasn't just trying to duplicate the Arya on the show, but a combination of Arya from the books, drawing references from actress playing Arya on the show. A 9 year old Maisie Williams with a straight light to the cheek is probably way pudgier than what I drew. (and you also got to admit, even if I were to just duplicate Arya from the show, she often looks pudgy at times)

That was so awesome. Me and my wife were awestruck.

Amazing as ever.
I don't know how you do this stuff. It's like black magic to me.
|
Doesn't it get boring to do all of these drawings perfectly all the fucking time? Do you have anything, you still need to learn and get better at in this kind of field? All of your drawings are beautiful and no photo, not even the massively photoshopped ones you see all the time, come even close to those drawings.

http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120703095450/gameofthrones/images/2/21/Maisie_williams_GoT_Premiere_2012.jpg ewwwww......
Why the hell do young girls want to make themselves look like they're 60 years old? That is nasty.
I personally didn't think she looked pudgy at the end. If anything she looked a little bit old. The picture is really beautiful though.

awsome as always,

Yeah, after looking at the pictures you posted, it does seem like an appropriate amount of skinnyness in your drawing. It still doesn't depict my ideal view of Arya, but that was probably unrealistic to begin with ^^

can I buy this? I m dead serious about it

Amazing as always, do you make drawings just for fun or do you work in design?
|

I love Arya! Please do more Game of Thrones characters. Hodor?

I wish I knew more about art so I could give you actual constructive criticism, but from a complete novice's point of view, I can't agree with the other poster at all. This looks absolutely flawless and all the points you gave in the last post make a lot of sense. I can see how what you were saying comes out in this piece.
I know you have a lot of people giving you praise and I'm sorry I can't give you anything constructive but GOOD LORD man. This is just absolutely phenomenal.
