While I may not agree with what he's doing, it's always good to see young people stepping up to the plate instead of letting the adults do it. Western cultures generally teach children that they can stay children for a long time, but young people are capable of so much and this is just one of many examples that show how powerful young adults can be if they actually get out there and do stuff instead of...
...well, sitting here and typing posts like this on an internet gaming forum. >.>

Really smart kid doing a really smart thing. Let's just hope he can teach his community a thing or two and thus improve the world, at least that part of it.

Great story! It just goes to show what a person can do when they put their mind to it. and lol @Birdie ;-) too true, sir.

Well Birdie sir, you shouldn't assume the states of work of other individuals without having any information about them. I thought it would be collaborative to this cause to post a link to a site that gave information about them, and that is why I posted it. Besides, I do my share of work to maintain society.

I was mostly referring to myself, although I daresay the majority of the 4% here on TL also fall into the realm of "young people capable of a lot but achieving very little in their youth".

Scientific literacy is a huge problem in the USA. This debate is crucial to the future of the country. Its great that he is taking up the cause. Often, we wish more scientists would take a stand for science, but the fact of the matter is most great scientists are quite busy doing... science, and don't have a lot of time for public appearances, advocating for scientific education, etc.

Sorry for misunderstanding then. Yes, I agree in that scientific literacy is a large problem in the U.S and worldwide. My biggest concern I think is the use of vaccinations. If you live in the U.S., then you have seen that this year the influenza virus has mutated and is a lot more aggressive than last year. In effect, more people are having the flu and it is becoming harder to cure and contain. Imagine how it would be if we keep freely using vaccinations. The flu will just mutate more along with other bacteria and viruses.
