I hop onto the Abyss and play a few UMS/Fastest/Whatever games because I'm not in the mood for actually playing a ladder game. I just got laid off at work on Friday, so I'm planning on spending the majority of the weekend looking for a new job (I don't expect a call back, it's a small company and they laid off about 40% of the workforce over the last month, some of which have worked there for a few years, so, honestly, I was surprised they waited this long to let me go, I know I definitely impressed them, but I guess it just wasn't enough).
After a few games, I can't find anything interesting, so I decide to look for a ladder game anyways. I find one on FS and join, only to be booted by the host (1300 ranking probably doesn't help). This happens a few times before I finally get a game on Tau Cross. At least it's not Python.
I'm Z, my opponent is T. I feel like I should open 9 pool speed and try to double expand behind a speedling contain, but at the last second, I decided to open 12 hatch instead. I didn't send a drone out to scout, however, like I normally would vs T when I 12 hatch.
The result?
Fuck.
I know that if he pulled that many SCVs though, he's all-in. I let my hatchery finish so he has to make a decision whether to kill it, or charge straight into my base. He decides to stay and kill it.
He kills it, and then immediately leaves.
Now, I know this looks bad, but he's D, and he just went all-in vs me, yet didn't finish me off. Believe it or not, at this point, I've actually killed 2 of his SCVs, and he has yet to kill 1 of my Zerglings. I know his economy is going to be absolute trash with all those SCVs not mining for that long, so I need to try to harass him a bit, to try to get myself back into this game. And the best unit for this job is the Mutalisk.
I re-take my natural as soon as I realize he completely retreated.
And then I proceed to do what I did previously with mutalisks - rip my opponent a new asshole.
You wanted that Academy, right? Well, I killed the SCV building it.
How about that Ebay? I also killed that SCV.
But mutas won't win this game completely. So I have a backup plan.
And I'm still causing chaos in his base.
I've killed so many SCVs at this point, and he keeps making more turrets, probably hoping that it'll stop the onslaught. And i only made 7 Mutas. But it's enough to one shot a SCV.
At this point I have a 2-1 food advantage, and it's growing, so he knows he has to do some damage, and as soon as I see him heading out I start thinking about the best place to engage him. The best time imo is when his tanks are sieging right outside of my base. So I time my counterattack to hit when he would want to be sieging his tanks so I can kill his small force with ease.
And that's what I do. And that's when he leaves. 4-0 on ICCUP. :D
