DOTA2 concept: The Freeman

When there was trouble, he appeared. The Freeman was first spotted by a lone sheepherder of the northern plains. He appeared from the void, a silent golem the man had prayed for. The herder had been terrorised for months by a giant reptile in the sky, killing and scattering his sheep. The Freeman, wordless, trekked to the great castle in the west, with his iron crook and the magic device that let him defy the Earthmother's hold.Three days later he walked from the rubble of the great castle, over the crumpled corpse of the dragonmaster, his beast lying vanquished before him.

But he did not leave, could not leave, and after the herders lavished him with gifts, covered him in the tribal symbols of their heroes, he left. Now, long years later, he roams the land looking for a way home.
