As above. My challenge to all is: Name an RTS where you get as much variety and different playstyles. (hint: no such game exists)

Supreme Commander: FA is probably my favorite RTS of all time, go to faforever.com to check it out! It provides so much depth, sending armies across battlefields on a huuuuge scale! Simply amazing.

I find RTT games much more fun, though. World in Conflict, DoW:Retribution and CoH are all fantastic games within that genre. Tom Clancy's Endwar is worth getting on Steam discount too. I'd count the Empire series here as well, since most of the important strategic decisions are made on the board, per turn, while the meat of the action is tactical. + Show Spoiler + Retribution and RUSE still have multiplayer options, but it'd be like playing WC3 now. PEak hours are 3-5 EST for Retri multi. Dunno bout RUSE cause I got laughed out of a multiplayer game in January. Guy wouldn't start the game cause he didn't want to play an unranked player. WiC is dead. Totally. CoH is really healthy, though, along with Empire and Shogun 2 from Total War.

It's even more fun if you can play multiplayer, but the bunch of totally different AI is cool enough to enjoy it solo. It may take a few amount of games to really understand how to optimize and/or rush some ressources. Myth, and Myth 2 (even better), probably should have been called real time tactical, but anyway, it's pretty good, how to micro his own army of dwarfs and stuff against zombies. Can be really challenging, especially during the first playthroughs. Warcraft II, because of the best musics in the Blizzard RTS universe. :p I can only support the one who said Giants: Citizen Kabuto, as it is one of the funniest games I've ever played. Well, maybe you can argue the game is more Action than RTS, but the first person RTS levels are decent and hilarious too.

Battle realms -> unknown yet pretty cool and different experience, but outdated gameplay Master of Olympus ->economy focused, but a very fun game Battle for middle earth->if you like the books/films then you get some hours with fun (good and evil campaign), but boring multiplayer

Also, Rise of Nations is something I remember playing when I was younger that is good, but seriously, get AoE II (or III which is less good IMO but better graphics) and AoM.

if there are still people who are looking for a great RTS game i just can say try Forged Alliance. in my oppinion, its the best RTS game ever and very unique...its not like other RTS which are more linear ( in my oppinion). In forged Alliance you can play with so many different strategies and dont have to start with the same BO like in other RTS games. its really complex and very addictive once you get familar with the game. Here is a link 1 of my favorite casters : http://www.youtube.com/user/praisegugleourmaster where u can watch live casted games and learn something about playing it too. and goto faforever.com just download the client and play ! Any version of forged alliance is working there. For all RTS fans its just a must try ! ![]() Within this lobby there you can watch livereplays, there is a great forum also how to learn this game. it´s just a great community we got there...kinda like a big family ![]() Also, there are lot of tournaments, a huge map vault, it supports up to 6v6 multiplayer games, Ladder games for 1v1 and a global ladder, Avatars, and a nice build in chatroom where u can ask questions etc. I never played a game that long...and i wont stop playing it ! Its just too amazing Go just get the client and try it, you definitaly wont regret it www.faforever.com best regards Freshy

C&C Tiberian Sun? I remember it as the most boring and slow campaign of them all. The originals, red alert and generals were nice though. A shame they were not able to support generals multiplayer in a better way (EA ftw). There are weird games that can be nice in addition to many of the games mentioned, like Perimeter. Seems like gog had to remove it, hope it shows up again.
