So since SWTOR was announced to go F2P later this year, I decided to give the game a go and check it out. The game doesn't go F2P till the fall but there is a limited trial till level 15. It's only been a couple of days now since I started and here are my first impressions of the game:
What I liked:
- Story seems to be the forfront of the game and is the "heavy driver" that makes you want to play more. For a person like me, who isn't that into MMORPGs, this comes as a pleasant surprise as it eases me through the genre. But for a person who is an avid MMORPG player, then I could see why this kind of hinders their way through the game. This is probably because of how attention is given to each individual and their story rather than the social aspect of the world.
- Combat felt fluid & satisfying. I tried WOW before, but SWTOR feels a lot better combat wise. It actually was one of the main reasons that keep me coming back.
What I didn't like:
- From what I've played so far, it feels that the world is linear and may I say way too straight forward. There isn't a sense of mass to the world. It also feels pretty empty as I am yet to see a vastly populated area. This is really weird especially in an MMORPG. I mean the social aspect of the game is supposed to be quite important ain't it?
But yeah those where my early thoughts, I will probably continue playing until GW2 comes out. I want to see the story through at least. What did you guys think of the game?
