My name is Thomas, I’m 20 years old and work in the sports department of a big TV channel. I’m currently working in London at the Olympic Games and have been working at many sports events in the past. My day to day business is to create sports news shows and live broadcasts of sport events. Next to making TV and music, my biggest passion is Starcraft 2. I follow all the big events and love to see the production quality of tournament broadcasts rise and professionalize. But I think that there is still a lot to improve. I’ve always wanted to offer my skills and know-how to the community and do something, but unfortunately I don’t know anyone (but one girl) in real life who is also interested in SC2 which makes it incredibly hard to "do something".
Recently my main idea was to create a very basic SC2 News Show. I know that there is the GNN (GomTV News Network), which started off just a few weeks ago, but I don’t think that what GomTV does with GNN is really special nor informative. They may have all the resources for their show, but I don’t think they are using it correctly.
That’s why I posted to reddit, asking for editors. I got 5 people replying. One of them is actually really cool and actually helping. So this guy and me is my team for the moment.
A lift up was, that Jorosar actually reacted to one of my tweets and offered to host the show. Nothing is fixed yet, because I told him to wait, because without a show there is nothing to host.
The thing is, that I could create a good TV-like news show immediately, but the main problem is that it would take time. Imagine we’d create a great SC2 Newsshow, but it takes 1 month or more to make. If people like it, they’d expect to see it again; soon, and not in another month or two. Not to think about that a show that takes one month to create simply can not be up-to-date.
To achieve creating a show faster I need to have a great team, but at the moment I don’t have that. Nevertheless I want to do this. And in this blog, I want to talk about creating the show. From the graphics to the stories and all of this stuff..
So check back here for updates, as I’m back at home on Monday.
I’m still looking for editors, so if you want to help with the show, please contact me @SC2OpenNews.
Cheers and have a nice weekend,
Thomas
