I like being suprised and today TeamLiquid had my back. Liquipedia has stepped it up when I wasn't looking. But why wasn't I looking.
Around four months ago my girlfriend's father passed away. For those of you who have not endured the adult experience of dealing with every aspect of someones death, that shit is time consuming. During those months, I had little time or mental energy to keep practicing SC2. I enjoyed watching, but let my play fall to the wayside.
So I returned to ladder a week ago at the request of my girlfriend. I found much to be the same. I was still pretty terrible and people whined a lot. But one thing that had changed was Liquidpedia. It is now currently filed under "Bad Ass".
When fell out of practice four months ago, Liquidpedia was filled with some pretty outdated stuff. Builds still referenced season one maps, 1 gate sentry expand was listed as a valid build vs zerg and there was only one brand of 1 gate FE. It had been liked that for a while and I never went to Liquidpedia for any information or current builds. All the information I was receiving about the current metagame was from streams, VOD or forum threads. It was a sad day, where learning anything new took way to much time and effort.
But clearly there are some hard working chaps updating the data base now. 1 Gate FE alone is a robust set of different variations on a centeral idea, with different outcomes, transition points and ideal outcomes. The best part are the references to different replays, Day9 Dailys and VOD to further flesh out a build or point. As somone who loves to master new openings and expand my play, I am pumped to start digging deep. I have some other plans as well, including seeing how the build pages transfer to Intapaper(possible Youtube video later of that). Now all we need is a robust practice data-base/calendar and we could be in the future.
But to those folks who doubled down on the updates and writing, thanks. Those of us with limited time appreciate your efforts.

You returned to ladder at the request of your girlfriend? That bodes well for your relationship then
The recent work into liquipedia has helped me get back into starcraft 2 as I had took a long break, I got up to date with a few new builds most importantly and it helped me avoid spending a few hours simply studying streams which I do now enjoy (I watch player streams for entertainment mostly). To all those who have contributed to liquipedia in a positive way, however big or small, I thank you.

They work great with insta-paper too, which lets you convert any webpage into a document that can be downloaded and displayed on your Iphone, Ipad, Kindle and so on. I have archived most of the builds I care about and can review them at any time. I am going to throw together a youtube video at some point, because it is that awesome.
And the GF is pretty awesome. I was helping a lot with her band, so she felt I should take some time to do what I care about. Plus all phone calls. Strangely, people passing away = 1000 phone calls that are all exactly the same.
