Exactly! What happens to commodity capitalism then?
Answer: it creates a police state to keep us in line!

especially since Obama was rated very badly by a gun control lobby and has done virtually nothing to stifle gun owners....

Honestly I don't think he was being malicious towards Obama overall. Sounds more like a misinformed title whose purpose is more to draw views and what not ![](/mirror/smilies/puh2.gif)
But yeah...could really take piracy to new levels depending on what kind of materials it may be able to work with.

A pistol made of glued together pieces of plastic. Sounds like high quality precision equipment to me!

Remindz me of det film with the body guard n whitney hooston in it, wut wuz the film called again?

This has got to be a troll thread. There's no way that a 3d printer is the way of the future. With the number of people failing algebra in America, I'm guessing there's even a far larger percentage who fail physics and chemistry.

You'd have to steal a 3D printer first . I heard they are a tad pricey.

Eventually, you'll be able to download a file and print complex devices in your own home. And that will have plenty of ramifications. But you sure as hell can't do so yet.

Maybe 5 years ago but not these days. $2000 ain't all that much , in the long run it would probably save you money. Besides most people here are too short sighted , what happens when they start creating stronger plastics to use with these things? Theres videos on youtube of 3d printers that use stainless steel dust to make metal objects.
It's the future , get used to it left wingers.Government control over guns will be null and void when you've got 3D printers popping out guns left right and centre.

All the articles have so far been misleading, as you can only print out the guns receiver. Somebody who wanted a working gun would still have to acquire the other parts.

I gave this thread a chance after seeing the title but that's just troll bait from the creator. There isn't one comment that's remotely leftist in this thread, adding a political slant to a technology that should be used for enriching the educational and scientific process is just ridiculous.

3d plastic printers aren't the only possible alternative source of guns; in a place where gun manufacture is banned but demand is high, machine shops could knock together cheap, unsafe metal firearms pretty easily. In fact, in the USA, this is probably what would happen if there was a sudden ban on the production and distribution of firearms for civilian use.

lol you can't "print" any of the mechanisms of the gun just a plastic body. It took a gun smith to make it work...

I remember awhile back they were looking into printing organs for transplant using a 3D printer and stemcells

Lol so confused by this topic. I am unsure of the abilities of 3-d printers, but I find it hard to believe that a printer could make something THAT technical, something that requires hundreds of thousands of dollars in equipment to mass produce.

Almost obviously so. How about the doctors who can print human skeletons, and the engineers who print micro structures? 3-D printers are the future. No joke. Just.. No. If you knew anything about material requirements and processing technologies you would know how wrong you are.
I definitely have read in multiple places about 3-D printers that can do this.
Edit: On second thought it might have actually been that they are working on being able to do this, but I read that a while ago so I'll stand by the fact that they can do it haha
