After watching Flash v Fantasy at the OSL RO4, I was excited to enter my first TVT.
I had no idea what to do, but i saw lots of tanks in the game I watched, so I figured I'd get those. Wanting to play "standard", I'd also want to take my natural at an early point in the game. So I ended doing a 1 fac FE, although making a factory before CC would make the expo slow... I send my scv to my natural and quickly begin building, pressing b and c like a pro, but taking 5 minutes to set the damn thing down at the right place. Such is life without a build grid. I send out my marine to look around, and what do you know? A fucking bunker.
I thought these were bad in TVT. I really did, but I knew what to do. I saw that translated game of Boxer vs that guy i cant remember the name of and all i need to do is make tanks with siege. I guess that's the answer to any TVT problem, get more tanks.
I then find out he tanks of his own. What the!? Howd he get those?! I wonder if this is his initial plan for all his TVT games. That's when I learn walking my tanks into siege lines are PAINFUL
Next thing you know, wraiths fly into my base and start wreaking everything. I had marines, so I guess I'd hang in there a bit longe-cloak. Of course. Right. I told him to go kill himself and left the game.
I seriously considered why people like to piss randoms online, and concluded with the answer that they're evil.
Probably assumed SC2 because of the 2nd last sentence. The last sentence doesn't make sense to me, but I think he's saying something bad about his opponent?
It's OK to just watch Fantasy make tanks and go "hey I wanna make tanks" but if you don't put thought into your game and don't have an understanding of what you're doing, you don't get to criticize your opponents.
Your opponent put a lot more thought into his game than you did and you weren't able to deal with it.
From the description (can't say for sure without a replay), he probably had an earlier expo than you, got bunker to be safe since he'll be weaker. Your first gas is earlier than his, his 2nd gas is earlier than yours, so he'll be very vulnerable and will have later tanks, thus needs the bunk to be safe. His 2nd gas kicks in and he pulls ahead. Once siege mode is done, he's totally safe. Here, he has a number of options, and decided to go starport which has the potential to accomplish several things; break your tank contain, kill SCVs, and/or draw your units back into your base giving him freedom to move out.
He put more thought into his game than you and you spazzed out. I dunno what to say

He probably did, but this was more of a joke to me if anything Right now ill only think "if i lose i need to macro harder" cuz thats more important
At low level if you are going tank i'd focus on getting siege + that 1st tank. i'm guessing you don't have the best macro (no offense, no one does at bronze) so one base should be ok for the very beginning, the upgrade will be more beneficial for defense. keep up constant tank production and you should be ok to hold your nat
