Jon Lord died on July 16th in London at the age of 71, he was the keyboard player from Deep Purple, one of the most legendary rock'n'roll keyboard players of all time. He founded Deep purple in 1967 with Ritchie Blackmore and co-authored masterpieces like Smoke on the Water and Child in Time.
I was raised in this music and seeing the legends from the 60/70's starting to fade away makes me sad. I guess it's life but still it's the end of an era, most of those guys are now 70+ and sadly these news are probable going to be more frequent...
I had the chance to see Deep Purple live, but unfortunately it was after he left the band in 2002. Still was one of the most awesome shows i saw
Omg, this is horrible tragedy. RIP. Damn cancer man. Deep Purple is actually the most amazing and versatile band I've ever heard. A lot of the younger noobs here think their incubus and RHCP are awesome, but Deep Purple owns everyone. Examples:
