Laddering is funny business. In and of itself, it's a pretty easy thing to do. You hit "find match" and play a game of Sc2. It's where I like to test new builds, practice old builds, or just cheese people and laugh maniacally as they flail under the overwhelming might of the Terran all-in. I find myself taking long breaks from the ladder, though, several weeks long. In terms of my progression as an Sc2 player, this undeniably hurts my skill. Part of it is simply getting rusty, but not playing for a while I come back and also find that gradually the skill level of my opponents has risen. They still die to the same cheeses, but they micro better, have safer build orders, whatever. But what exactly factors into my streaks of laddering or non-laddering?
Well, it starts off with a segment of laddering. I'm playing a few games a day, and sometimes on a weekend will fit in more of that. I run into the same guy on the ladder from time to time, Pikachu (with the sentry portrait) who I've now played like 6 times over the years, which is kinda impressive given how much both of us have improved and increased in MMR. Life is good. My build orders become sharp and well-focussed again, especially the all-ins I use in each matchup. Typically during this period of time I hit my peak Sc2 skill, or even push the boundary a bit and actually improve. Life is good.
At some point, though, real life always intervenes. Maybe I'm feeling more tired than usual after work+school, or maybe I'm too busy to play Sc2 for a few days. Maybe anothergame catches my interest for a bit. Whatever the case is, I stop playing for a bit, I see my bonus pool rise, and I find a reason to put off playing more. My stream goes dark (since I typically don't stream anything but Sc2), and I stop playing Sc2 altogether. For whatever reason, it's not worth it for me, especially if I'll need to play a bit to get back in practice.
What brings me back, though, even when I have a profile
Oh so in the middle of writing this I just got blown off by my date tonight. Well damn.
If you dont want to play SC then dont play,It's that easy. But i love games like SC and DotA.Where the more you play and practice the more it pays off in skill.

Man, that's not even what this blog is about. It's just about how my interest in Sc2 comes and goes, just like GIRLS INTEREST IN ME, WHY OH WHY PAIN SUFFERING AURG
Thats pretty normal, My interest in actually playing comes and goes. I actually stopped for quite a while last time, I was getting angry after every game whether I won or not. But I saw the Hots battle reports and I decided to come back and its like season one again for me, I can play an infinite amount of games in a row, win, lose, it doesn't matter, I am actually having fun with the game again.
I'm in a vaguely similar boat with SC2, except I never dedicated the time to get good in the first place (dicking around in platinum), and haven't played since season 3 or 4. I'll pick it back up when HotS comes out because I feel obligated to, and we'll see how it goes from there. I'm starting to work more seriously on my dissertation though, so my window of having lots of free time for [serious] gaming is sort of closing.
There there blazinghand, there's always another girl out there...somewhere. Meanwhile, you can eat a whole pizza tonight! :D. Just go to a store and buy your own personal medium sized pizza. Then you can sit on the couch and watch a movie with it. Then when you're all bloated you can roll onto the bed and fall asleep, and hopefully tomorrow you won't feel bad anymore.
