You need MUCH more than a few designed maps in CS to get a passable job in the gaming industry. You're competing with grads in related fields with equal or greater actual development experience to your own. The only people who make it in the gaming industry without a degree are the types that literally teach themself to code so they can make indie games and actually ship something with no help from any bigger games company.

Probably not. You need to be really ambitious, and even if you are, you need to have an astounding level of underlying talent. There are just way too many kids flooding the market with game design degrees for any one person to stand out.

You want a good job with a lot of job opportunities, be an engineer. Starting at 70-80k, ana plenty of jobs in every city.

I look at the positions like level designer and I honestly feel I can work my ass off to garner some experience for myself (I'm expecting to work for quite a few years to even be ready for a job).
