Let's get this out of the way first, I am a big sucker for historical drama. I am also a big sucker for Medical Drama. So this fits me quite well.

So what is this Drama about?

It's a bout a Brain Surgeon named Minakata Jin getting time warped back to the Edo era (~10 years after Black Ships (that Perry guy)) So basically this is a story about this guy being awesome and going around being Jesus and fighting plagues and making cures. And that's just plain Awesome

Minakata Jin got his share of pasts too though =/ he operated on his girlfriend who had brain cancer and botched the operation which was practically hopeless to begin with and turned the girl into a vegetable. Ever since he hasn't operated. That's until he operated on a mysterious injured man who apparently had a fetus shaped tumor inside his brain (WTF?)

Then the injured man wakes up, steals the bottled up tumor with a surgery kit only to be caught by Minakata-sensei and during their struggle the doctor gets sent back in time.

And so the epic begins. To be honest even after watching this drama for the 15th time I still don't get this fetus shit. And why that tumor is so fucken scary and gives me nightmares but hey, it's all worth it for watching Jin going around Japan being Jesus inventing Penicillin and all (of course he didn't invent it, he just went back in time and "invented" it before Alexander Fleming was even born)

Oh yeah he picks up a hot side kick named Saki. She's a fine daughter of a samurai too.

Oh yeah you get to see the wtf faces of everyone when he says Surgery.

Awesome show and really good acting too, although I liked season 1 a bit more than season 2.

Yeah I liked S1 more too, the earlier episodes were the best and the Cholera arc was probably the highlight of the show.

And you get more wtf faces in early S1, the wtf faces are half the fun for me.

Sorry for the off-topicness.... buttt: to anyone who somewhat knows Japanese, at the end of the slogan in the OP's poster, how do 美しい and 町 combine to be 美しき町? Is this some grammatical modification of い-形容詞 that I'm unaware of?

What! There's a S2?? I'm going to have to watch that now, thanks! This was the first drama I ever watched without subs so it's got a special place in my heart. It's really awesome and good acting.

It's basically just an old way of saying 美しい (when used before a noun). Random trivia: the song What a Wonderful World is この素晴らしき世界 in Japanese^^
