Going to keep this pretty simple: Each week I spend some time watching streamers that are not featured. I do this because I feel a lot of them have something to offer but are not really given the chance and to a certain extent remain in obscurity. I'd like to help bring "awareness" to streamers that have some interesting elements of play, personality or whatever by sending people their way!
Each friday I am going to write a small description for my "featured" non-featured streamer of that week and link everyone to their stream. I will tweet the link to their stream as well and hopefully I will help get them some attention that I believe they deserve!
Considering doing this for youtube channels as well but I know next to nothing in regard to those that work in this space. If people want to recommend me some channels by posting in this thread I will take a look and if I think they deserve special mention over a streamer for the week I will give them that recognition!
PS: I will try and do this each week but sometimes I may be out of town and inable to do this justice (phone won't do!) but for the most part I should be able to do this each week.
If you are a player, personality or whatever of note I encourage you to perhaps do the same! You can name it somthing different or just take my idea and make it your own.. but this community has a lot of people that spend a lot of time working to create content and get their name out there.. this could be a fun way to go about making that a more reliable space. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________
6/1/12: Fitzyhere [Stream] LINK
GM level zerg that uses queens as a main component of his game play. Interactive/fun personality who brings a bit of spunk to the game (wears army hat while playing). Streams often, always with webcam and constantly plays against big name opponents. Already a bit of a fan favorite for his unique play he is a player on the rise and worth checking out!
6/7/12: Avilo [Stream] LINK
As a terran player Avilo provides a stream that includes GM level play, commentary and a webcam to interact with his viewers. While he is famous for his antics usually involving balance whining he does provide excellent game play and gives explanations why he feels the way he does.. whether you agree or disagree the conjecture is beneficial to the viewers. Avilo also plays a style that is usually experimental in nature. Working with nukes, defensive/passive play and the rare Raven. Absolutely one of the most underrated terran streams, give him a look see and who knows? Maybe you are a fan!
NOTE: Todays was done a day early as I have MLG tomorrow!
6/22/12: ROOTPuck [Stream] LINK
Puck is a Protoss player of GM level skill who is currently on team ROOT. As a part of one of the top NA teams Puck will be traveling to events and making himself more known. His stream features a webcam and top level protoss play. One of the things I like about his stream is that he does a good job explaining what he did right/wrong after each game.. it's a bit light on the commentary but you won't come away from his stream without some great information that you can benefit from. As with Fitzy, it doesn't hurt that he is an uber manner guy both online and in person.
6/29/12: GoSutgun [Stream] LINK
tgun is an australian grand master level zerg who has traveled across the planet for MLG's, lived in korea and has competed in numerous online tourneys as well. Not only is he a seasoned tourney player he is a regular for the GoSu lineup. His stream offers a camera, decent commentary and top level zerg. I particularly recommend his ZvT which has been pretty highly touted as an extremely underrated matchup from this player. Def worth a watch!
7/21/12: 4NOT Xenocider [Stream] LINK
at only 14 years old this young terran is stirring the pot a bit with his GM level play and recent success in online tourneys. Defeating EG.HuK in one such tourney he has the level of play necessary to make a real big impact on this game in the near future. His stream is crisp and features (you guessed it) terran play. He does not listen to music and he does not do any commentary.. these are things I'd encourage of all streamers but what he lacks in entertainment he makes up in the novelty of his youth and the expertise of his skill. Terran streamers are fairly uncommon and this little guy is a bit of a hidden gem. check him out!
8/10/12: Quantic.Theognis [Stream] LINK
Theognis is a former bw player who has ALWAYS had a real talent for the game. Being a player first and pretty much just that he flies below a lot of people's radars because he doesn't get a lot of exposure and SC2 is very cut throat.. if you aren't a big stream, personality or a winner of tourneys you sometimes get forgotten. Theognis is an excellent terran that deserves some eyes on his stream. With a webcam and the professional overlay of team Quantic he is someone worth checking out.
9/25/12: Future [Stream] LINK
Richard "Future" Almand has been playing Starcraft since brood war where he was also a competitive player and he traveled to tourneys competing in WCG's and everything else he could get his hands on. Now he is a streamer who has a webcam, does commentary and has some high level play. Definitely a under-the-radar stream worth checking out.

Thz for the opportunities ur giving to the community.
but this community has a lot of people that spend a lot of time working to create content and get their name out there.. this could be a fun way to go about making that a more reliable space.
Too many people, outside of streamers and content-creators, work very hard for little. I like this initiaitve!
Sounds like a cool idea
Great idea. I've often watched streams that aren't featured and don't have too many viewers and thought they deserve more. Nothing I can really do about it apart from keep watching them and spread the word round to my friends.
But exposure from somebody like you is a fantastic way to give streams like that a good chance.
Will definitely give it a watch
Great idea, and Fitzy is one of my favorite "non-featured" streamers. Cincinnati represent :D
This is some good stuff Geoff. I love the idea.
Pretty awesome idea helping the lesser known and non featured players / streamers gain popularity in the community and get their name out there
This is a really good idea. I think too many people only look to the featured list to see who/what is on and don't explore what others have to offer.
Plus Fitzy is a cinci guy
Elaborate scheme to get people to type "DO ME!" so you can respond with "that's what she said".
I'm on to you Geoffrey!
really nice idea, well done!
Really nice initiative, lets get them some viewers
FINALLY someone is helping some of the not so named players out this is huge. I would really like to see more of this. Hard to break out with a stream when no one notices you (or if you dont want to be a dick like destiny). hard to even stream with 100 other doing the same thing :D
There are a lot of underviewed streams on TL. I like this idea.
Personally I suffer from the common syndrome of only glancing at the featured streamers and moving on if I see my favorites aren't online at the time. This is a great way to showcase the talent I know is hiding in the non-featured section, I feel guilty for rarely looking there.
iNcontroL, it would be really neat if TL granted you the power to place your chosen streamer into the featured section for a week to help bolster there viewership even more!
While I don't personally really follow player streams this is a really nice gesture and a good idea.
I really appreciate all the work you do for the community Geoff! I know a lot of up and coming players/streams that would benefit from this spot light opportunity! Even myself as an up and coming commentator would benefit ^_^
I'll be sure to check out his stream in the next couple days!
Is this only for Starcraft 2?
There is some really good unfeatured streamers, Pomi and Slivko for example.

Great idea, there are a handful of fun guys coming up these days that could use some extra attention for their hard work.
Fitzy is on my favorite list, he's one of the guys I keep an eye on to see how his stream is progressing, he's a solid up-and-comer that we will probably see more of in the future.
Thanks Incontrol, I hope this stays updated!
I love this idea; I loved it when someone suggested it to day[9] and he did it at the end of dailies, I love it here.
I already watch Fitzy a bit, but I'll keep an eye on here for any more recommendations :D
Yeah I stumbled across fitzy on accident and was quite entertained. A good first choice for a good idea all around!
You should really note that he actually takes the helmet to MLG's as well.
He also plays with a Shethboard
EDIT: I believe he was also using a paper bag as a mousepad at this event as well.
This type of blog is a great idea bro! I think its cool that you're checking out and drawing some attention to some of those awesome guys that aren't featured. <3
for me he is no difference from destiny
Super great idea. I'll definitely check out all the streamers you suggest.
Hats off, this is an amazing and really noble idea
this is great. thank you geoff
The more VODs I watch, the more annoying this Aaron kid in the background gets.
Chill the nerdnoxiousness bro, you're bringin' a bro down.
Fitzy, he's bringin' you down.
Really really cool idea!
I (like many others) am guilty of just looking at the featured list and moving on.
I Hope this stays updated, if so ill def be coming back to look at whoever gets "featured."

But okay.

well played Geoff, as usual you are one of the best parts of this community. Thanks for trying to make it easier to be a little guy in this world.
This is such an awesome idea, thanks for taking it up!! As soon as I can get my stream working I'll have it up.
Tons of appreciation for what you do for the community Geoff, you are truly a great example of the best of this community.

That's not what I meant.
I agree with the idea behind it like you; however, I think Geoff can be doing more constructive things with his time.
The stream situation is grossly saturated as is.

Blog took me around 5 minutes to write. Each week I will spend around 2-5 minutes writing / tweeting about something I check on 1-5 times a week and spend anywhere from 5-15 minutes doing each time.
We are talking around 1 hour investment each week. I think I can manage the time...
This will probably help alot for up coming streamers/players
Great for the community this is. I will check this guy out.
The only thing I didn't like about his stream the couple of times I checked it out was the background noise of whoever talking a lot or playing music or w/e. General out of game mic was ok, not great. Obviously not a huge part of a steam or something that he can control (background noise that is), but just thought I mention it. I just watch him muted when I do, so really not too big of a deal
Fantastic! What you are doing is amazing, you are supporting eSports

You should look at BW streamers too, or someone should (:
Very nice of you to use your name to give exposure to others, I appreciate the initiative!
a really wonderful idea Sir. Greets from Germany.
I would like (love) to recommend Stephano to be your featured streamer for the forseeable future.
Good idea, I am always curious about the non-featured streamers who are GM, but rarely take the time to watch them. Continue this!
he's about to do a bo21 against puCK for a spot in ROOT gaming right now haha
iNcontroL: Always helping out the little guy!

Awesome idea, I hope some more popular players do this!
Incontrol, you did it! Fitzy is playing against Puck RIGHT NOW for a spot on ROOT's roster!

Well played ^^

awesome idea, heroic even gl hf

I love that you're doing this incontrol.

Incontrol just have my children already. I'm sure your ego will love to here that this is a god send for all the unknowns out there. It's hard to make a name in the scene for yourself now days. And while it's definitely not impossible to do, getting the seal of approval from incontrol will definitely make some nerd's day. Good stuff.

Great idea!! Super glad it was fitzy who you selected first.

:o what a nice idea. Hopefully more e-famous people follow suit. :D
This is an awesome idea, and I am glad that someone with the name recognition of Incontrol is doing this. Awesome idea Incontrol, this is another reason why you are awesome!
Very cool idea Geoff, I'm sure all the non-featured streamers appreciate it. I've watched a fair amount of Fitzyhere as well.
Heh, and within like a day he joins ROOT.
You're genuine good guy, iNcontroL. Helping to spotlight lesser known talented players is something no one expects of you, yet you do it. It's a small step on the way to create a healthier growing enviorment for up and coming players, and it gives em a little bit of hope that some attention might get thrown their way. I've always liked you, but now you got a real fan in me, one who'll support you, your team and your sponsors as much as possible from now on. Props and keep it up.
Ya know what? I just had some newfound respect for ya.
Keep up the good work man, you rock
Really cool, there are many streamers who deserve the spotlight.
This is such a good idea. Much love bro from an un featured streamer =)
Really cool thing you're doing here Incontrol, love to see stuff like this.
Some guy who went to my Class at CNC cnet once mentioned this guy to me. Said he mentored him. Ill check him out! If you see this guy who I saw on team liquid at my class message me sometime! We should play.
Cool idea, will be nice to see some new faces :D
Awesome idea! I think you should take a look at DroneKing. High master guy who plays on both the EU and AM server, he interacts a lot with his viewers, both the chat on twitch and an ingame chat, furthermore he plays with and against his viewers in both 1v1 and 4v4 monobattles, all while being quite the entertaining guy
This is awesome, iNcontroL. Great example of SC2 community leaders stepping up for eSports!
htere are so many top tier players that arent featured T_T many of them post a lot in the strategy section here on TL and i can recognize their streams by their names

I agree, have been viewing this guy for quite a while now, he's a very nice guy and talks a lot with viewers about anything really. He will answer most questions in chat as soon as he reads them. Very good streamer imo! Deserves a lot more viewers and I think a lot of people will find him very entertaining to watch.

OP updated with this week's FIND FRIDAY -- Avilo!
Didn't think you'd reuse the same OP ): My first reply is thus insufficient.
There is someting hypnotic about watching avilo play.
congratz for the great initiative, I like the idea.
and props to avilo, he definitely deserves this kind of attention eventho hes kinda whiny from time to time(although as a Terran player I undernstand his frustrations )
Awesomem to see Avilo getting some love! :D He always has a very entertaining stream I encourage everyone to check it out if you get a chance! :D
Avilo is really underrated and deserves more attention, I think if he got featured on TL and viewers found out about him he could get as many viewers as anyone else. He does get annoying sometimes with his balance whining but at least he explains why he feels that way. I watch his stream whenever it's on, he's very entertaining.

I was wondering when you were going to show Puck some love :D RootPuck is a great player/streamer, rocking out the top of the GM ladder this season. I've been seeing him practice with xSixSuppy and training with RooTTOne. So keep an eye out for his stream because Puck is getting better and better every single day!

This is great, Watching Avilo play is amazing actually. Never seen a terran that plays for the late late game so well. I doubt i could ever imitate his play but its nice to know there are terrans winning past the 16 min mark ^^.

Puck is awesome, been watching him for the past couple months now. Glad to see you're drawing attention to him. His drop harass micro is sick, making use of speed prism + 2 immortals in PvP, and speed prism + collosus as well as storm drops in PvT. Check it out!

Glad to see Theo get featured !! he's a great guy and player, <3 him
Would be really cool to hear why you like him or something unique about his play-style. Just a thought.
TheOgnis is one of the best NA Terrans out there, he's so underrated and I don't use that word a lot!
Theognis is amazing he should be featured. He's easily top 10 maybe even top 5 in terms of NA Terran users.
thanks for the support, Geoff. Appreciate all the love even though I'm not very well-known or decorated SC2 player.
I'll be streaming atleast 8 hrs a day 6 days of the week. (probably won't stream much on Sunday) I've been doing very light commentary but will definitely try to be more in the future.

Glad TheOgnis was the next player to get featured him and Illusion are the two NA Terrans representing US in WCS this weekend :D Be sure to check out his stream you will defiantly learn something!

Thanks Geoff! It is quite hard for us non-featured streamers to get viewers, so it is much appreciated. Also, anyone that stopped by due to Incontrol's post, Thanks! I will be training very hard for this next upcoming MLG, so expect more of these 50 game marathons.
