EPTI recently made the HUGE jump from mixing with virtual dj on my pc to using cdjs and a mixer.
In the few months I've been practicing I've learned a lot. I've come a long way from mixing what I see on a screen to understanding timings and the actual structure of a house track and what it takes to make it sound good when you mix it.
I've apparently gotten good enough to play in front of people! Im mixing my first set tonight at a local club called Mustangs for a Monster Energy promotional event. the club is pretty small by club standards but it should still be pretty packed. Im mixing the closing set which for me is pretty huge. Its the first step in reaching my dream of being able to make a living off what I love which Im fucking amped about.
since there are a lot of people on TL that appreciate electronic music, I thought Id post the set Im mixing tonight and get some feedback so I can make changes before I do this shit live.
This is not your average run of the mill commercial shit. Its a lot more funky. Its hard in that its really upbeat stuff that you would probably only ever hear in a club. Its a mixture of tech, fidget, and electro with just a hint of dubstep. There is some sort of weird glitch where it didn't record for a few seconds near the middle but its nothing serious.
