Hi guys, I'm casting for my main man and my Starcraft 2 Coach, Direstrait, an AMAZING player from the NA server who I believe is master's rank one and this is the third game I believe I have casted for him. He's a borderline GM player. And his opponent his ROOTDrewbie, a pro Terran player with quite a few tournament wins under his belt.
There were some points in this cast that I was lost for words at, like calling out the Ultralisk Cavern (here I called it the 雷獸房 like an idiot), and I said things like "Bad engagement" (壞的交戰), but I should probably ask you guys since I've been watching a few Taiwanese casts lately, how exactly would I say "exchanges"? The same way I would say "交換"?
I'm trying to stake a living on being a foreigner working here as a Chinese-caster. But for now, I am just a student.
Other vocabulary Items I need to know: Matchup- Example: "This looks like a Zerg vs Terran match up" more colloquial terms for: Raven Ghost Battlecruiser Carrier Collossus - 巨像? In the next cast, I think I'll call it a 長頸驢 -VERY IMPORTANT- I need to know how you would say "Medivac" as well as "Medivac Harass." Neural Parasite (although I know very few people actually use this ability.)
As always, please comment, like, and subscribe to my videos
EDIT: I accidentally hit the "Post" button too early. The replay I casted is still in processing.
EDIT EDIT: The video has finished processing now -_-.
EDIT 3: I just realized I forgot to mention things like, stimpacks getting researched or level 2 upgrades, etc.
Good stuff. I haven't followed Chinese SC scene for a while due to lack of quality contents so I might be wrong on the lingoes, hopefully they are still the same as in BW. Anyone with better level of Chinese can correct me.
Match up - 对局 - However, in Mandarin, more specifically in context of Starcraft, we don't use this noun very often.
For example to translate the sentence "Zerg vs Terran Match Up strategies"
We say: 星际ZVT战略 or 虫对人战略
Exchanges - Again, depending on context, for example if players are base racing, you say they are 互拆
If you are talking about exchanging units, like 3 zergling in exchange for 3 probes, you say, 3只狗换了3个农民.
Raven 渡鸦 Ghost 幽灵 Battlecruiser 大和(战舰) 大和means Yamato Carrier 航母 Medivac 医疗艇,or funnily 妹子,coz the pilot is female Medivac harass would be something like 空投, basically drops. Colossus 巨象,or 高富帅
For matchup you can just say 这是一场TvZ
This is more mainland than Taiwan though, like you'd hear from MarsTV GSL broadcasts.
王虫 (king insect) = infestor 。。。 X 挂了 = X is fucked
All I can think of for the TvZ matchup for now. Damn I watch too much Chinese casting.
when you say 王虫, i believe it refers to "overlords" and infestors are called "感染虫"
and when you say "X 挂了" is that a really really bad word? The problem is, I'm taiwan and I don't want to say anything that isn't television-appropriate... And I think censorship on television programs in China is different from Taiwanese programs.

Yah, I got overlords and infestors mixed up.
And no, it's not as bad as saying someone is f'ed, more like saying "X is dead".
Watch some Chinese VODs on Youku, your casting will be 10000 times better because of it.

Is there anything wrong with watching taiwanese casts on youtube?

No haha, just the fact that YouTube is blocked here in the mainland, and watching through my shiity VPN is like watching a slideshow.
Plus, there's way more Chinese content on youku anyway, you get a much better variety.
